I feel paranoid when people stare at me. This seems to happen often, but I think my paranoia makes it seem more often that it is.

Everywhere I look in public someone is staring at me O_O It scares me and makes me all want to smack them upside the head because of how ridiculus they all look ;)

if i could offer my two cents....as an NT i only do it when i'm very attracted to the person... other than that i don't really look at people and i certainly dont stare.... honestly i might stare at him sometimes...not to be rude but because i think he's so beatuiful that i can't help myself and when i try not to look my eyes are already on him....i don't look at him (AND NEVER WOULD) look at anyone if i thought they were a bit odd... i think people look at me like i'm odd sometimes but to that instead of it letting me feel uncomfortable i say "f-ck them.."...

Oh geez i hope he doesn't think i think he's weird... i just like him a lot and thats what i always find myself doing when i like guys...

If people stared at me, I'd think they were getting ready to (a) laugh at me or (b) shout something cruel. Not once have I thought that they might be staring because they like me... mostly because the idea is so ridiculous that I try not to entertain it.

It depends on who, and why theyr'e staring at me.
If it's someone cute staring at me longingly, that's fine.
But if it's some creepy b***h leering and drooling, crazed eyes focused on me, then I don't like it.

Sorry to bring this thread up after four years (bear with me, I'm new), but I wanted to ask this question myself.

Recently I was in my tennis class and a girl who was watching wouldn't stop staring me! She was sitting in that tall chair in the middle and when I was switching fields I noticed her looking at me right in the eyes and smiling. I even engaged in a "staring competition" for like one second, but then I had to look away. This happened two or three times.

I couldn't read her smile. Didn't know if she was interested in me or if it was something else. I only saw the girl that one time. At the same time, I didn't know what to do, should I keep staring until she quit? Should I look away just a little later? The time when I looked away always felt awkward, but it was instinctive.

What's your take on this? What was she doing, and what should I do?

Talk to her, or you know that you will regret it. Also put on your best game face when you do, and step outside your comfort zone.

No, it's not like that. Actually I have no interest in her (she's too young for me), and it's very likely that we never see each other again.

I was just curious to know if she was interested or not, and what should you do when someone looks at you that way.

There's almost no way to tell. I mean there's obviously interest there, whether its negative or positive can really only be found out by talking to her.

If you are interested in the person next time it happens, you should talk to them. In this situation, just ignore them and daydream about how cool you are for someone to notice you.

How do you tell the difference between "a look of interest" and just an inquistive look when it's a young lady looking at a guy?

People never stare at me. I'm the one who stares at girls all the time and most times they don't even notice and when a few do notice, they usually don't say anything. One of my crushes that I see, I stare at her all the time and I'm not even sure if she's noticed.

I'm nearsighted & I'm in my own world. People probably stare but I'm obvious

It happens and I hate it too.

I do my best to ignore it, but it still bothers me.
