Last night my boyfriend was fixing my car for me, working with the coolant pipes. One pipe flicked back and splashed coolant in his face, mind you the car was cold, and I giggled/quietly laughed while he was trying to wipe his face with his shirt.
Then he told me coolant burns, so I rushed to get him a wet cloth. I feel bad for laughing but I couldn't help it. I didn't feel sorry for him until he told me it burns. But then I just felt bad for laughing.
He wasn't annoyed at me or anything, he's used to my weird ways, but still, I want to stop laughing when I should feel more emotion for others.
This is something I will defiantly bring up when I meet with my new shrink next week.
You didn't really laugh inappropriately there. You didn't actually know that it was burning him.
If you had known in advance, then it would have been inappropriate. But you didn't.
