Has anybody question this? After reading articles about him and his actions I googles his name and aspergers and came up with some results or articles stating that maybe he's been diagnosed with aspergers. I haven't anything about it on tv, anyone else thought about it?

I did a search as well, nothing came up aside from schizophrenia..I am almost embarrassed that I thought to do the search but when I read the paper the day after it happened some key things stuck out from what I was reading about him..I hope with all my heart he isn't ASD...

I don't believe it's credible. I know of one woman (mother of a son with Asperger's) suggested he might have Asperger's based on the fact that Loughner talked about wanting to make a new currency and her son talked about wanting to make a new currency. So she leapt to the defense of people with AS everywhere and suggested that teens (at least teen boys) with AS need to be tightly controlled so they do not turn to or are not tricked into a life of violent crime.

Do Not Let Tuscon Gunman Define Asperger Syndrome (link). Instead, allow an alarmist mother who seems to think Asperger's = borderline sociopath with a side order of naivete to define Asperger's Syndrome.

Even if Loughner was an Aspie, that doesn't explain (let alone excuse) his crimes. Rather, he's just a megalomanic living in a fantasy where he's some sort of hero. Reminds me of the guy from "Taxi Driver" more than anything.

You can't use Aspergers in an insanity plea. This guy appears to be of dubious sanity. As far as I know, autism does not mean being out of touch with reality. It only means that interactions with reality can be extraordinarily difficult.

Yeah, I hope no one thinks this guy has Aspergers, because that will mean s**t for us all. And its really annoying just before a new school semester because people are going to be extra suspicious or reticent to associate with people who are odd or have odd ideas and who are not social. I hope I don't get people wondering more whether they ought to be afraid of me.

What annoys me is that every time some nutcase goes on a shooting spree, the media is all, "He was a loner, quiet, kept to himself, didn't have many friends..."

No wonder we have it rough.

I recently heard about him and him and his lucid dreaming. He thought he was dreaming when he shot up a few people. That's all I read about him.

That is so untrue! Loughner had friends, they have been showing interviews with them on CNN. He was not a loner, but the media will call him that and portray him as such even if he is not to fit into their stereotype of the crazed loner serial killer.
It would be so refreshing, for once, to have them report honestly and objectively about someone, even if doing so blows every stereotype and profile out of the water. Complete honesty.

Can you? If you want to internet diagnose him at all, the word salad in his youtube videos is more indicative of schizophrenia - which is also not a condition likely to make anyone violent (as opposed to the victim of violence).

Not only was he not a friendless loner, he didn't keep to himself much, either; he was tossed out of the local community college after disrupting every class he was in with his disjointed rants (did you know that the rules of grammar are really a tool for government mind control?), and his neighbors say he used to roam the area shouting at the top of his lungs.

Basically, it wasn't a matter of, "Oh my God! He shot those people?" so much as a matter of, "Oh my God! It took this long?"

It makes you wonder why didn't anybody do something? Did anyone know he was going to the meeting with Congresswoman Giffords at the Safeway? Was he really as irrational irl as he was in internet postings and videos or did he cultivate this persona to garner attention from the clique he hung out with? On CNN, Anderson Cooper said he was being uncooperative in jail. He must be sane enough to know he has the right to remain silent. He isn't incriminating himself. I doubt he's insane.

I sure hope not...but I doubt any of us can say for sure one way or another. Certainly not based on all we know about him currently at the very least.

While people with Asperger's are human and therefore capable of the same ugly behaviors other humans are, I think it would be a disasterous for the AS-NLD/ASD community if it came out that he had Asperger's. We are already among this society's untouchables, we get tortured enough as it is without having any crazed gunmen in our ranks save Martin Byrant. An individual that blessedly few Americans have heard of and i'm not even sure he had Asperger's in the first place. Once the frightened, brainwashed and ignorant cattle in this society start associating mass shootings with a developmental disorder, we're really in bad trouble 8O
