Ok, so what is it called when peeps like us always have to wet our lips? I get really hardened and sharp pieces of skin on my lower lip from it. I have a large lower lip too... Should I just use regular chapstick for this, or is there something better?

I used to get chronic chapped lips. I kept a bottle of carmex in my book bag at college.

One dehydration is likely a factor. Drink water even if your not thristy. Avoid execessive
diuretic like caffiene. For some reason tea does not seem to be as bad as colas or coffee.

The sun can also be a factor. Use sun screen if all else fails.

Dry skin is proven to be improved with hemp oil (ingestion) in one study . Its
the omega-3 . so fish oil gel-caps would be better 3-6 grams daily in divid doses with food.

Thanks for the input. I do drink a lot of water. It gets pretty cold where I live too. That doesnt help. I was thinking about taking fish oil, what else is it good for? I smoke a lot of pot too, I wonder if that will help.

There are studies in which alot of mental conditions are associated with lowwer levels
of omega-3 fatty acids. There are a few studies in which taking omega-3 fatty acids
improved those conditions. A drug company is trying to get FDA approval of a fatty
acid derivative ethyl EPA . EPA and DHA are the fatty acids in fish oil. The brain uses
mainly DHA but for some strange reason reports seem to indicate people mental conditions improve better with EPA. One study even showed that pure DHA made some
conditions worst. Most fish oil is about equal in EPA and DHA. Your unlikely to find a high
EPA ration (many times EPA to DHA) in the US. Maybe you could mail order. Myself I'm
using plain old el cheapo fish oil from walmart with the standard 180:120 ration EPA:DHA.

Yeah omega-3 is something you need to take anyway for cardiovascular heatlh.

So Omega-3 has both fish oil and other fatty acids I need in it?

omega-3 is not a brandname or a product its type of polyunsaturated fat. Most polysat
fats we eat are omega-6. Fish oil is considered the best source of omega-3 fatty acids.
The plants source of omega-3's are not EPA or DHA the body must convert them in
a process that requires large amounts. But good plant sources if you want to know is
flax and walnuts. But if you get your omega-3 from these plants sources you best eat
alot of them.

I have the same problem. People always ask me if I'm wearing lipstick and I'm an f'in guy. I take fish oil caps and flaxseeds and drink plenty of water and it doesn't help. Nothing you can do about it but keep the chapstick around and apply liberally :)

I've heard licking your lips is one of the worse things you can do for chapped lips.

I went to the store and there were like 20 kinds of chapsticks. What kind is good for this problem? Some came with medicine that kept your lips moist all day... Is that what I want? I thought them being moist would make it worse..
