Are you guys better at remembering names or faces?

For most of my life, I have been considerably better at remembering names than faces (I started to get worse with the former and better with the latter at the end of high school). I can remember the names of my friends from preschool (and their parents!) and when someone in my family has forgotten an acquaintance's name, they usually go to me for help. I have almost never been in a situation where I am talking to someone and I have forgotten their name.

On the other hand, I am practically face-blind, my memory for faces is so bad. Unless I know someone really well, or they are really distinctive looking, I have trouble remembering who they are. This is especially true when I have a few acquaintances that look alike, and have pretty common looks. I also have trouble recognizing people outside of settings where I normally see them. I have even had a couple embarrassing incidents where I mistook strangers for acquaintances, and vice versa.

I've heard that the majority of people are generally better with faces than with names - I wonder if it's different with the autism spectrum, though.

Terrible with names. Faces seem to be remembered well if there is an appropriate context. If I meet you outside of where we normally interact, I may not recognize you at all.

I'm better with faces than names.

I don't have a problem with facial blindness, the closest thing I have to problems with faces is that is that I can't see when people are identical - if I see identical twins I can see something unusual about them, but I can't see that they're identical.

Names I'm terrible with, it's like when I first came across the idea of names I didn't quite grasp the concept, so now as much as I might know that a name is a label for a person, the idea just doesn't quite click in my brain. Don't get me started on my own pet peeves about my name. Basically I avoid calling people by their name, it's both discomfort with using names and the constant fear of my brain getting mixed up and using the wrong name, so no names are used and I'm rarely able (or willing) to learn names.

I'm ok with faces I guess. Maybe a bit below average, but nothing drastic. But I'm truly terrible with names.

None of those I can remember the sound of the voice. Then I just know I have seen this person before but have no idea who they are.

I remember faces but not names. I can learn names with repeated interactions. Friends of mine have noticed my not very subtle attempts to get people to give up their names when I need to introduce them to other friends.

If I get to know someone online first, then names are easier simply because that's all I have to work with.

I'm great at remembering names, faces not so great. I have trouble recognising people I've known for years.

I always remember faces. When I'm introduced to someone I apparently only take account of the face. The name goes in one ear and out the other.

I am great at remembering faces on their own, and very good at remembering faces and names together, but usually can't remember names on their own well. For example, I usually recognize people on forums by their avatar, and sometimes their avatar paired with their name, and if they change their avatar I get confused. :P

I've always been better at remembering faces, but at my age the name may take as long as 48 hours to "swim up" into consciousness, if it surfaces at all.

Faces are very, very difficult. I think that's why I get confused and frustrated when people I know change their hair or eyeglasses. If I see a workmate at the grocery, I won't recognize them easily (if at all).

Names aren't that easy, but I'm more likely to forget an acquaintance's face than their name. It's tricky to remember either. The difference is that once I know someone (which I do best by the traits of a person), I'm not going to forget their name randomly, but little changes can throw me on the face.

I am absolutely and irredeemably hopeless when it comes to recognizing either faces or names. Now if I can hear your voice, or see how you walk, then I can with certainty recall who you are. If I meet you outside of where we normally interact, or if you change how you move; I probably will not recognize you at all. This of course causes me a lot of grief both in my line of work, and with family acquaintances.
