As others have stated, my migraines can have many triggers. I find hormonal changes, changes in weather, and sensory overload can all trigger migraines for me. I just had a 2 day migraine on the weekend. I usually have to lie down in a quiet, dark room with ice on my neck, a sleep mask and medication (therefore as little sensory input as possible). Usually, if I can catch it early enough, I can sleep it off in a matter of hours, otherwise it can turn into the two or three day variety which is not fun.

I think I get headaches much more often than migraines. I've been getting headaches all my life. When I was younger, I'd always seem to wake up on Sunday mornings with headaches. That's one reason I despise Sundays to this day.

I think my headaches are induced by both sinuses and how many hours I sleep. I find that I frequently wake up with headaches after sleeping in all morning.

I have been living with migraines since as long as I can remember. My first experiences were visual auras and I could not focus clearly then I started to get disabling pain behind both eyes.
I find that if I take Asprin the moment an attack starts I can control the pain and also tend to retreat to a darkened cool odour free room and sleep it off.
This past year I have suffered episodes of what I now know to be optical migraines when the vision of each eye appears to be like a swirling pool effect. It moves from one eye onto the other over a period of an hour or so and is painless but dangerous if I am driving so I have to pull over until it passes.

I get migraines from TV, a night drinking or just out of nowhere. I get them directly after seizures too which sucks. My auras are usually quick flashes of light so probably have more to do with seizures because I do become a bit more paranoid and spasm-ish.
It's hard to tell the difference but I think migraine symptoms last longer than seizures.

I have wondered if there is a connection between AS and Migrains too.
I have been suffering with migrains about thirty years.
Never knew thats what they were untill about ten years ago.
We use to call it the "sickness". For me it is like feeling poisoned or
something. The head ache is bad but they are way more than a headache
my whole face and neck hurts and I feel sick. I have noticed the aura only a few times
it is like what you see before you black out, seeing stars.
usually get them saturday morning after a stressfull weak
Starting to get one every month or so now.
I also wonder if there is a connection between being ambedextrous
and migrains?
please excuse my poor writing skills Iam also dyslexic

Yes, when mine are bad, it hurts all the way down my spine. For a while I wondered if I had back problems that were causing this, but it's definitely not a normal headache with all the other symptoms.

Thank you all for your responses. It's interesting to hear about your experiences.

I get them rarely, but consistently. They always come after prolongued work or stressor, when I get to quietly relax. The constricted blood vessels in the brain relax and dilate. They are almost always preceeded by a visual aura (shining jaggedy shapes in my visual field). They are very debilitating and painful.

mine are most often caused by things that flicker, the first one i can remember was caused by a CRT computer monitor, the next the sun flickering behind pine trees on the highway.

If you are more than 20 years old and the headaches are severe, or the headaches prevent you from engaging in activities that you would normally engage in, then you should see your doctor.

The age of 20 is a bit arbitrary, but migraines etc can begin any time up until people have stopped growing and developing.

Hey everyone. For me i have both Daily chronic migraines and Cluster headaches for over 6 year mine started my freshman year of highschool.

For me I have a migraine everyday most days now there not to bad if i take my Vyvanse and my night time meds. But the clusters are 10000 times worse. Both make my already highly sensitive body go crazy theres just so much info coming in and not enough time to prosses it.

Now having them as long as I have had them that sometimes I can get more work done when they are there. Its like iv started to be able to understand the info coming in and use it.

But when there at there at there worse I look like a crazy man I can be up days stait with no sleep and can eat cuz the pain is so insaine.

Anyone else have anything like that that have AS and clusters?

I suffer from migraines quite often (have one right now), they are triggered by hormonal changes, food, exhaustion, stress, too much sleep, etc.

I also have auditive auras though no doctor take them into consideration because they are not visual. It has been discussed in another thread, it seems to be common to suffer from headaches or migraines.

My first migraines were "stomach migraines", they are common among children and don't look like migraines because they are very bad stomache.

I get terrible and frequent migraines and have done since I was 18 ( now 55...shh). They can last up to seven days and be triggered by anything from being cold, stressed ( which probably explains the frequency) to various foods, smells ( onions, perfume), anger, excitement, tiredness and being overloaded in general. Light catching my eyes does it too especially reflected sunlight in a flash. I've had a lifelong allergy to citrus and lemon seems to be 'hidden' in so many foods, I also find monosodium glutamate a huge no-no. I sometimes get migraines daily and feel worn out with them. I've often wondered if these are cluster headaches as they are supposed to be a very painful form of migraine. I've been taking 120mg of Propranolol a day for a few years as beta-blockers can prevent them but apart from putting on a shed load of weight it hasn't made much difference, but then I think they might be worse than this if I stop them. I always find it helps to keep my head warm when suffering from migraine and wrap the first thing I can grab that's soft around my head and cover my eyes. No medication has ever worked except one and the side effects were frightening.
I get no warning signs but my migraines are accompanied by numb mouth and nose, heightened sense of smell, tinnitus, slurred speech, distorted vision (everything looks in 2D, but then it does a lot to me anyway) and they can also be one-sided (usually the right) or all over and down to my shoulders.
I'd love to look at the sunset but I can't even with sunglasses on because that seems to really trigger them.
