There is a girl by the name of Grace Amudu who sent me an e-mail asking me too help her out of her refugee camp. She supposedly had a huge inheritance and would like me to help move her money and said she would like to get married with me. I googled her name and found out that this girl has been scamming alot of people. So look out for this name

You can tell Grace the same thing I told her brother: Send me a photo of you showing off the tattoo I told you to get, and I'll wire you the money.

You won't beleive how gullible some people are. My mum's fallen for the ads that look like window alerts several times now!

Looks like a new twist on the "Nigerian Letter" scam.

I wouldn't even say it's a twist. It's the same old scam.

Even without the part about having internet access in a refugee camp, it's still obviously a scam. The only thing stupider than a person falling for it is a person thinking it would work. These people really need to think of better scamming strategies.

I don't know about that. Abuse of the stupid, naive, and temporarily absent-minded seems to be the underlying motive of many scams (other than money, of course). It also makes a less-than-brilliant defense: "He/She was dumb enough to fall for it!"

It's probably looking at a lot of forums I'll bet. If it's trying to take advantage of the people on this forum specifically because it's an AS one I'll be pretty damn mad.

But then I suspect that we may be better about not falling for these things anyways.

Though I wonder if I could have some fun with this. I'm tempted to string along some of these frauders and put up a log :P Not the first person to think of it but it sure sounds fun.

Ive done it and it is fun.

Theres a scoring system in place actually.

5 points every time you make them lose their temper.
10 points every time you get them to spend their own money.
50 points every time you get them to send you money.

My current high score is 85 :)

I've seen some e-mails like that too, believe it or not!

Those are worse than phishing! What are these people thinking?

I got a scam email as a response when I posted my profile on aspieaffection. Hard to tell whether they are specifically targeting disabilities, but if so that's evil.
