it's hard when you're in an abusive relationship to stand up to the partner - even when someone else is defending you, because you know once you get home and you haven't defended him - you'll pay for it.

True. Now i'm in a lovely relationship I think 'how could i ever have let someone treat me so badly.' but when you're in the moment all the logic and reasoning goes out the window. I guess fear does that.
