yes. at the stables saying hi to everyone as they arrive, or as you arrive, is the "done thing". i can never be the one to say hi first, and i can only comfortabley say hi to the people i know well. i hate it when someone shouts it across the yard because i dont like to shout back, so i often pretend i didn't hear. they must think i'm very rude. i especially hate it though, when people are walking past, and they say "hi you alright?" because now i have around 2 seconds to think of a suitable reply and say it. this is tricky. do i say "hi" or "yes i'm fine" or "i'm fine thankyou how are you?" sometimes they walk past too quick and i end up not saying anything, and i feel bad. why are they even asking me? they're not really interested how i am and they know they're not gonna be around for the answer even if i gave it them (as they would have already walked past already). why is saying hello so complicated?
OMG i sympathize so much with this post. This is exactly what happens to me. I feel the same way, if you really want to know then give me the chance to answer. I also get too overwhelmed when they say too much at once.
I also hate it that people have so many different ways of saying hi. "What's good?", especially annoys me. How do you answer that?
