I've joined Autism Speaks Facebook Page hahaha. It's funny how many "OMG vaccines caused our kids to have autism"... I'm just saying stuff which properly reflect our views.... Shall be fun while it lasts, I may be kicked off, but hey. I'm having fun...

I did that a while back when they had forums. I'll caution you: It's exhausting and frustrating and you'll feel like you're constantly being attacked by people against whom you can't really fight back, because they're misguided, not malevolent. Be willing to leave when you've got no more to give.

did you post that autism tshirt pic? If so - I think it would be more helpful if you explained WHY you feel that way instead of insulting them. An explanation would open up the conversation. Insulting them just closes their minds further.

Don't insult them. Remember, many of them are parents who have never heard the other side of the story at all--they love their kids and they truly believe that for those kids to be happy they have to become less autistic. Respectful disagreement makes a lot more sense. Think about what you want to accomplish. If you really want to help, be reasonable and explain your position rather than just accusing them of being bigoted or stupid.

That is so very true.

What does going onto a site and being confrontational/antagonistic accomplish? It would seem to me that it would hurt your side more than help it. I fail to understand the 'poke autism speaks with a stick' mentality. I am not a fan of them, but I will not bash them either. Who does that help? It seems better to me to simply speak the truth as you see it with diplomacy if you feel compelled to speak with people hooked up with that organization in the first place.
