Sometimes when I'm remembering something, If its an embarrassing or uncomfortable memory My face will contort into a grimace or a similar look of disgust. Since this happen at any time of the day, an onlooker would see me just randomly make a face at nothing in particular. I don't think anyone has noticed this habit of mine yet, but I don't want to keep doing this. What if someone is taking a picture as I make a face, or it happens at an important event?

Does anyone else make faces at spontaneous memories?

Yup. Often. I also have a rather stoic default face so even if I'm having a good time I look like I'm pissed or grumpy.

Although I've learned not to laugh aloud at internal memories, I sometimes still smile when I think of something funny. People too often mistake this for me finding something funny about them, so it gets me into trouble.

If I think of a bad memory, I tend to be able to control myself and keep it in my thoughts only, when in public.

Yes. Some things are just too funny to not laugh aloud a little at, for me.

Remembering, but not when you're deliberately trying to remember? Sometimes an unpleasant or painful memory will flash into my mind, and then I'll grimace and have a tic (twisting the neck tic, usually).

This happens very often for me, and I cannot control my expression easily, and will sometimes clench my fist and/or jaw while remembering. Fewer times i have hit my head against something, but after hurting myself I have been more careful and controlled.
Once or twice I have been seen and asked if I was alright.
People think I am just overreacting, but it is involuntary.

*shrugs*

Yep happens to me a lot. I will just be walking along and will think of something funny or bad and make a face at it. Then remember myself and try to hide it.
