Now I come to think about it... I used to sleep on the floor sometimes, it felt much safer than being on the bed, more... gravitationally safe. I didn't do that a lot though.

When I was very small I took all my clothes off and got inside a sleeping bag with a nice texture on the inside of it. I would still do that ;)

Really not a floor sleeper, but I do like sleeping the wrong way around - as in my head at the feet end.

I work in construction and when I am at work and my back hurts nothings better than laying out flat on your back on a concrete slab in the summer it really cools you off too

Everything in my living room is on the floor - t.v., xbox, stereo.

I sit on the floor and plan on keeping it that way until I'm either not single anymore or .. I dont know what else

I used to do this a lot as a child, not so much anymore.
I do sit on the floor a lot, not entirely sure why.

I think my parents still have a picture of me when I was younger laying on my side asleep in the marble hallway we had with the cat laying next to me in the same position I was in on the left side of the picture and the dog (who was bigger than me) doing the same thing on the right side.

So we were all just taking a nap there together on a hot summer day :P

Apparently I would sleep in my bed at night but during the day even during the winter I had to be on that marble floor or I wouldnt take a nap.

So anyway, I was lying on my floor last night, thinking back to all the times I have lain on the floor in the past, and it occurred to me that this was a pretty autistic thing to do, especially when I have a bed or sofa to lie on. I don't know why I like lying on the floor, but I do, maybe it calms me down.

Does anybody else do the same? moreso for no apparent reason?

Love, Emma.

PS: Now that I'm looking, I see these kind of traits everywhere.

PPS: I'm glad I have somewhere I can write about this stuff, and know that not only will nobody call me a freak, but there's a good chance somebody will say, 'Hey! I do that too.'

i do this every day and get yelled at for it. i have done it since at least 3 years old...no clue why.

There's nothing better than when there's no one around, and no chance of being around, than lying on my back with my arms stretched above me on the hard flat floor staring mindlessly at the ceiling. It's relaxing and calming and i can lay like this for a long time. Also, sometimes when me and my boyfriend are watching tv on the couch i will for no apparent reason get up and sit on the floor in front of the couch instead. Just felt like it.

I use to lying on the floor when I'm alone, bored and I need to think. It's relaxing and funny, you don't know what it can pass for your mind.

Also, on summer, I like sleeping on the living room floor, because I feel my bedroom was too hot. My dad gets angry with me when I do it, because he thinks it's stupid sleep on the floor when you have a big and comfortable bed.

This fall, we moved to a new and bigger house, and it seems warmer for winter and cooler for summer than my old house. I don't know if I will need sleeping on the floor next summer, but I know my father won't let me do it.

I used to love lying on the floor and watching television. drove my ex-girlfriend crazy! (One of the reasons we're now "ex", I suppose)

Neat topic!

I lie down on the floor sometimes. Sometimes it's because I'm uncomfortable on the coach, or I want to get closer to my dog. Other times I just do it when I'm bored or kinda depressed or restless. Also when I am upset I do it sometimes. When I am extremely upset I lie down on the floor and curl up.

Also when relaxing occasionally I will lie down and look up and the fan spin or lie down and look at the stars.

Looking up at the fan while lying on the floor is one of my earlier memories. I'd sit and stare at the fan and see if i could follow just one blade go round and round. My little brother asked me one time what i was doing and i explained it to him so i got him into doing that too :)

maybe you might want to read 'Company' by Samuel Beckett :

"you are on your back in the dark. Then he must acknowledge the thruth of what is said. But by far the greater part of what is said cannot be verified. As for exemple when he hears, You first saw the light on such and such a day. Sometimes the two are combined as for exemple, You first saw the light on such and such a day and now you are on your back in the dark. ..."

I have suggested our professor of english literature that the character in the book might have autistic traits and he did agree, he also knew what AS was (and of all people i know, he is very much AS himself) i even wondered if Beckett had it , but that I have not asked.

and yes i like lying on the floor.
