My mental fact database is fast, blazingly fast, in fact. But my facial recognition database seems to lack an index, and if I am greeted by someone I haven't seen in say...6 months, my response will be so slow as to probably almost seem rude, eg:

"Hey, [my name]!"
*look up* ....."Hey....uhh...j-uhh..........Jim!" (said to the back of Jim's head as he passes)"

Is this something you guys experience? Is it a common NT thing as well?

Yeah, but I'm kinda like that with everything. I usually don't even realize I'm being greeted by someone until after I've already walked passed them.

What's equally annoying is when I look at someone, and can't tell if it's someone I know or not until I stare at the person for about 10 seconds. I know this kind of stuff happens to NT's too, but it's never with their own parents.

I couldn't imagine a better description. :P My face database always seems to perform linear searches. But while it's not indexed, at least it has a cache for the five most frequent faces.

My facial index is more like a collection of some fuzzy human faces in front of physical backgrounds that I remember in great detail. When the fuzzy faces appear in front of different backgrounds, I have trouble identifying them. And if the person is someone I've just met, I can't possibly recall their name as I never committed their name to memory, because I was busy not looking at them and not listening for their name when they were introduced to me. But the stuff is the background is totally clear. 8)

The problem with my facial database table is that it lacks a primary key so when I see a face it returns multiple people, but it works a lot better if I have something to INNER JOIN it to, such as voices, personality, style, etc.

I kind of suspect that it's powered by MS Access, which explains why I have so many problems.

I just say hey mate/chief/bro or whatever is suitable, than wait for the mental process to bring up their name and than use it at the next oppurtunity.

Though sometimes my filtering process only brings the options down to a couple of names

Not trying to go off topic, but people say I sound the same as my sister on the phone. FTW?
