I cannot sleep at all. I try to go to bed at 10:30, but I usually don't fall asleep until around midnight. Recently I've been spending a lot more time on this website because it helps make my eyes tired. I also wake up in the morning exausted. I don't think it's from too much energy, because I take a fifteen minute walk around my neighborhood every day. I'm also stimming a lot more; rocking and flapping my hands, and my sister would ask me what the matter was.

I just need a second opinion, because it could also be stress. But I have ruled it out momentarily.

Help? :help:

I have insomnia I stay up all night and if I try to sleep I either fail at it or sleep for 3 or 4 hours at a time. This website makes my eyes tired too. I usually go on here and get tired but can`t fall asleep! It`s frustrating!

I'm the same way. I'm never tired at night, but any other time of day and it's all I can do to stay awake. It's 12:02AM right now as I'm typing this. I'm wide awake right now, but four hours ago I could barely keep my eyes open. In 4 more hours, I'll probably go to bed. Because I didn't get much sleep last night, I'll probably fall asleep quickly, but if I did, I might not fall asleep until 6 or 7AM.

It's probably due to teenage hormones. It has been scientifically proven many times that our sleep patterns are naturally different (although maybe not as extreme as mine). I spend most of my time awake during the night, and I sleep through half the day. Without school, there really isn't anything wrong with that.

It is 12:04 AM as I type this, and I know I probably won't go to bed for probably another 2-3 hours even though I didn't get a wink of sleep last night, none at all. Right now I think I am running on like 2 hours of sleep from a couple of naps I took today. I think it's stress (I'm very easily stressed you see) or it could be because my BRAIN WON'T SHUT UP FOR A FEW MINUTES TO LET ME SLEEP *ahem* but you may be experiencing some form of it, are you going through a depression if you don't mind me asking?

You may not be the only one but it is hardly an "okay" thing. I too can have this trouble without a lot of management btw....

A 15 min walk is HARDLY exercise for a 15 year old person. 60 minutes a day of some sort of working/walking/etc makes better sense unless you are an athelet then do what is prescribed by your program or coach. Nutrition must also be "on" in order to facilitate good sleep habits. Try to eat primarily whole foods and drink a few glasses of water per day. Finally, make sure that you spend your day in some sort of purposeful activity.

Anxiety is a big factor in this game and it sounds like you haz some right now. Try to understand from where this is coming. Do meditation or whatever to "fix" the anxiety.

I discipline myself to go to my room every night to practice my guitar, read and fall asleep. Set timers for anything that is a "obsession" so that you don't do your obsession beyond a reasonable bedtime.

I went to bed at around 3:30AM this morning, and I got a perfect 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep before I woke up on my own just before 1PM.

Why is this considered to be unhealthy? What is there to be concerned about?

I don't think it's a problem at all. It's not like I have to stick to a very specific schedule or anything. In fact, I actually think that rigidity in sleep patterns is actually unhealthy. Look at cats. They just sleep whenever they want, they don't care if it's the middle of the afternoon or a few hours past midnight. Why is it wrong for us humans to be like that?

Thats how I operated before I had a family, it feels so much better. I have a great difficulty trying to conform to "normal" sleeping habits and I think it is a big factor in my depression. I take medication now to help me sleep, without it I'd be a wreck.
