Weird they turned you down for the official diagnosis. I was diagnosed on the NHS on the 2nd June just over 2 months ago, but I'm in South Yorkshire That was by a leading professional he's listed on the National Autistic Society's website Dr. Eric Dale, maybe try emailing him for advice? I think it's on his website or message me and I'll give it to you, I have it somewhere. It was a six month waiting list. I think it's not to do with funding but not many NHS professionals diagnosing it. Don't think you can get the disability living allowance with out the official diagnosis. Try and get as much written proof as possible like from a councilor. I'm now getting post-diagnosis help, I get free bus travel in my county which is handy when you're on job seekers, apply for that too!, social training in a few months also a nurse is coming to visit me soon to help find out what or if I'm entitled to any allowances. It might be to do with where you live on what help is available which is stupid.
