I went to facebook and started adding interests and I realized I have more than 25 interests! Wow. Is that particularly aspie? I thought aspies had a tendency for a few, specialized deep interests instead of a panoply of interests.

That's a complex question, but if we're talking "special" interests, I have three main ones. That's not counting "regular" interests in life not considered weird by the NT world...

(1) Old TV sets and vintage electronics in general. I have had up to 400 television sets in the house at one time; all of them being from the 1940s-early 50s. I collect and restore them, and by that special interest, my first job was as a TV repairman.

(2) The Cold War and air raid/civil defense sirens. I collect and restore huge sirens, like those used today in areas with tornado warning systems. Related to this, is my excitement at severe, violent weather and the awesome power of natural disasters.

(3) Not weird at all around the world, but VERY weird in the USA; Toyota cars & trucks with Diesel engines. I have bought every one that I could get my hands on, and restored them all. I have about a dozen, and can't imagine selling any. I also can't imagine getting any more, as I would be unable to maintain them in excellent shape, and I am a clean freak and won't live with junk lying around and deteriorating. So the Toyota Diesel interest is by space & time "self-limiting".

I have three interests, one of them is not an active interest though.

1) This is fairly obvious, but I am a huge fan of Ratchet and Clank. :)

2) I'm way into astronomy right now.

3) This is my inactive interest, but I know a lot about the Holocaust and how it affected people with disabilities.

First and foremost Im obsessed with video games, but I do have related interests such as computers and tv, namely gaming forums, and anime, the only books I read are manga.

Other than that though I care about almost nothing which is difficult cause it leaves me with a lot of boredom. I sorely need another hobby.

I tend to only have one major interest at all times that takes up all my time. Although I do find time for other things once in a while it´s mostly just about that one interest. It´s all I can think about, all I dream about.

The problem is that I tend to just quit out of nowhere after a while. It can be anywhere from just two weeks to years. Most of the time I don´t get to finish what I was doing because something else pops up. Like when I was obsessed with the Japanese language and pretty much just did things in Japanese all day long for a while and became pretty damn good at the language (still pretty decent, but it has not gone anywhere from there) and then suddenly I found something else to obsess about. I still find it very interesting, but I have no time for it as something else is taking up my time. Right now that something is an online video game.

I have many interests, but I cannot pursue all of them at the same time. I can pursue only one or two at a time, because I need to pursue each interest in extreme depth, and it dominates all of my thoughts during its "IN" phase, thus excluding all others.

I have 2 moderate interests and one severe interest.

One moderate interest is moths. I do like to collect moths in a tub and bring them into my room to flutter around (I've got a bright light). I've been doing this for about 2 summers now, and funnily enough never noticed any holes in any of my clothes, carpets, sheets, teddies, or curtains. And I've had, like, 200 moths altogether come in and out of my room within the past 2 years.
The reason why I call this interest moderate is because I don't think about moths all the time, and I don't talk about them or even know that much about them. I just think they're cute and pretty.

Another moderate interest I have is the weather - but this mostly occurs in the winter (moths are more so my ''summer/autumn interest''.) But the reason why I get a little obsessed over the weather in winter and spring is because I've always got to find out if it's going to snow, because I hate the snow and the cold weather so I'm always looking on the BBC website for the latest weather forecast, and seeing which other country has snow and detecting if it's going to come towards England or not. But again, I call this a moderate interest.

My intense interest is certain men, and it IS intense. I write stories about them, draw pictures of them, create them as characters on the Sims 2, talk about them non-stop to family, and the list goes on. It's an all-year-round thing. :)

Many gifted aspies got a great range of interests. (Particulary intellectual interests.)

One primary but there have been dozens of little ones that might last for a day or up to a year.
