You probably have talents that you just haven't figured out yet. Sometimes it's harder to see them ourselves.

Take electives in computers, math, creative writing, and art. High school isn't near as flexible as college, but you can probably get started.

And, if possible, start taking classes at a community college while you are still in high school.

Yeah. I'm a "Data Specialist." I think it's only a term used within my company, but "Data Management" is pretty close to what I do.

I definitely don't make a living being a starving artist. I don't make very much.

I've been able to become a consultant in my area (IT) and make much of my living from technical writing.

Shiska, how many games have you made?

As for my talent, I'm sure one day my ability to remember people's names will come in handy. It definitely has social currency. NT's are always impressed when I can remember the names of everyone at a wedding or party including some surnames and the names of anyone they mentioned to me. I'm the rain man of names!

I do write well and have done so professionally in the past (lucratively) but I don't think that's AS-talent, more like talent-talent.

I do a ton of public speaking on ASDs, but am not able to make a living at it. I'm confident, though, that once I push myself through school and get the piece of paper I'll need, I'll be able to find something in the ASD field that will pay the bills and allow me to afford a place of my own.

This misdiagnosis caused me significant stress, which lessened upon finding out the truth about myself from my current and past long-term therapists - that I am an anxious and highly sensitive person but do not have an autism spectrum disorder.

My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I’m no longer involved with the ASD world.

Not quite yet, I'm still in school, but having an aspie talent for violin and foreign languages I am told will be useful

I am currently stuck doing a general labor job and am not making any money from what is currently my only "active" major interest (computer programming), because there are relatively few programming jobs in my area, and the vast majority of the ones that there are are internal business application development (for those kind of jobs, they want conventional, business-minded team players with degrees, not self-educated, eccentric individualists who are completely incompatible with white-collar culture). The only way I could ever make any money from programming without having to move would be freelancing (either on freelance marketplace sites, or possibly locally), but I'm not sure how reliable of a source of income it would be.

However, I think that I do have a way to make a living from one of my interests - I am looking to branch out into making free/open source self-replicating 3D printers. In the last few years, inexpensive personal 3D printers have become more popular, and demand for them is still growing. Even though anyone can make them, there are many people who don't want to self-source everything, so there is definitely a market for complete printers, either pre-assembled or in kit form.
