I have total sleep paralysis a handful of times per year. It used to be a handful of times per week, but tapered off, probably due to hormonal changes; ladies lifecycle or something.

I actually used to think I was dying a handful of times per week. I don't think my guardians believed in medical care. I've only figured this part out by reading up on it.

It's not seizures thankfully, just that chemical that keeps the body from acting out dreams.

I have a mild seizure disorder, fortunately completely under control with medication.

I get anxiety-related seizures and loss of consciousness. Also, pseudoephedrine seems to be one of my other big triggers.

I did have seizures up to the age of 2, for some reason they went away at that age.

I get mild seizures. I'm finally getting them investigated by a neurologist after quite a few years of them interrupting things. The delay is simply that I thought it was one of the things that just came packaged with the rest and didn't bother to bring it up. I find it difficult to talk to medical people.

A lady mentioned her kid had seizures and I looked up some past
threads for her. It appears to be very comorbit with AS.

When I was a young child I had grand mal seizures that happened occasionally for about a year then went away. My mom thought I was possessed. My dad did take me to the doctor, but all they did was take my temp, look down my throat, in my ears and pronounce "she's fine". Not exactly a thorough evaluation for a seizing child.

In my early twenties I had smaller seizures twice, once I remember it seemed to be related to taking Tylenol Cold medicine.

I remember reading seizures are extremely common with low spectrum kids. Not sure if they grow out of it.

Once, when I was nine. (Although I'm not sure exactly what happened at the time, and nobody really bothered to find out.)

And sometimes I get those weird shocks down my brain stem when I'm trying to get to sleep.

And regarding an earlier message, if anyone tried to flash lights in my eyes, they'd better expect a fat lip!! !

At 16, I haven't yet had a problem with seizures, but I haven't actually been tested--whatever that entails.

Nicklegends- I believe the current testing involves an EEG while they try to produce a seizure. I've heard of making someone be sleep deprived before they come in for test and also heard of having various lights flashed or pointed into the eyes.

For those of you that have had seizures did you get this feeling right before it happened and you knew something really bad was about to happen? It's hard to explain but I always felt a wave of extreme heat starting at my feet and moving up to the head. It was a burning heat sensation, sometimes with buzzing in ears. There's more to it than that, but I don't know how to explain it. But I knew the first time I felt that it was something bad. After the first seizure I knew when the others were about to occur and would extinctively try to get to the floor.

A few years ago I woke up middle of night with that sensation so I don't know if I had a seizure in my sleep. But then when I had those grand mal seizures I would vomit, mess pants and be dripping sweat and none of that happened to me that time.

With me, I had almost like a little shiver(A close look at the time might have made it look almost like a little shrug), that I doubt anyone ever noticed. It all but stopped around 8 or so. I read about your shocks, and figured my shiver might be the same. The shiver was the result of an impulse that I GUESS could have been like a mild and brief seizure. It was brief, I was fully concious, and I could have done something else. It was almost like someone was giving me a back message, and hit a ticklish spot.

That sensation is called an aura.
I get them, but no seizures.
Some people who get migraines also experience auras, in the form of seeing flashing lights or patterns or perhaps smelling something odd.
