My dad has Aspergers, as do I, and so does my 10 year old daughter. Our symptoms are not the same but very similar. My dad and daughter have hyperacusis to the point of it being debilitating, whereas I do not have sensory issues. I'm just wondering how many other Aspies do not have sensory issues. 8)

I find that as I've reached my early twenties they have begun to settle down, not that mine were overly bad to begin with compared to many others. I no longer absolutely have to have headphones and sunglasses whenever I go outside, on buses or to the shops.

I don't believe I have very severe sensory issues.

I have extremely good hearing and eyesight. I can only focus on one sense at a time, and sometimes I can't control with sense that is. But I don't get overwhelmed by extreme light/sound/smell like some do.

Sometimes I'll hear noises, but it's hard to figure out what they are because I don't realize they're there until they're gone. Confusing, I know.

I have very little. They were worse as a kid but they got better with occupational therapy. I considered mine mild or minor. I don't think they cause me any impairments since I can deal with it and control it. They only impair me in areas I don't think are important unless my husband would make it a problem, then I guess I can say it gives me impairments. If I ever ran into something where I had to wear something that used fabric that felt uncomfortable on me, then I have a problem. But because my husband doesn't make it a problem and understands, no impairments and I don't run into any situations where I am forced to wear something uncomfortable. As for loud sounds, ear plugs and I don't run into that often so no impairment.

But mine were never bad overall.

I don't really have any either, certainly not any that affect my life in any significant way at least. Bright sunlight is the only thing that really gets to me, but nothing that some good sunglasses can't solve!
