I don't make that big of a distinguishment between colors. Whether or not you 'like' a color is really a cultural thing.
Like how pink is feminine and blue is masculine. That's just what society decided at some point. When I was a young child, I didn't see a difference between whether I drank from a pink cup or a blue cup. (But a man told me I had to drink from a blue one, of course.)
Similarly, bright colors are just a different set of colors that fit certain situations and give off certain moods.
{It's a whole different ballgame if you have epilepsy or something, though.}
I assume 'bright colors' are completely different from 'bright lights.' I think most people have an aversion to really bright lights. (Bright colors probably remind them of it and make them not want to look.) However, I am tolerant of most things. If it's too bright, I can just close my eyes.
I chose my current favorite color (because you just have to have a favorite color or you're weird) based on it being unique, but also vivid and colorful (redundant word?). Not because I actually liked staring at that color more than others. I actually do like it more now, since I've reinforced the idea of it being my favorite for years now.
