20. only confused by one question, so I put something kinda neutral for an answer.... I'm not indifferent to humans who are suffering or sad, but I cannot really predict what they think or feel unless there are obvious signs, like tears... my coping mechanism is to think the worst of a person's motives, by default.

11...

From where I'm sitting, half of the questions don't seem to have much to do with empathy.

4.... 8O
I am actually a nice person in real life and have friends.
But with all the questions set up like that I answered allot of them wrong. :? Plus after letting somone else do this I found out that I misinterpreted allot of the questions.

After spending a while fixing the errors I got 20.
After fixing the misinterpretations I got 28.

note: Probably not best to do these when I'm almost falling asleep! ^.^

The wide variety of answers among Aspies is interesting.

One flaw I think this test has is that is doesn't account for the different types of empathy. If it gave you a score for cognitive empathy and a score for emotional empathy, it'd be a lot more useful.

Still, the results are interesting nonetheless.

I scored 24. I was honestly expecting a lot higher. :P

The questions are absurd:

"I can easily tell if someone else wants to enter a conversation." - How can one tell if one is easily able to or not?

"I tend to have very strong opinions about morality." - Well I have very strong opinions about my version of morality but I know enough to know that my sense or morality is not universal. Is the question aimed at evaluating my views of myself or of others?

"Seeing people cry doesn't really upset me." - It does upset me, but not for the reasons they would suppose. Other peoples emotions are contagious and disturb me so I'd be upset seeing people cry but not because I felt bad for them.

I could go on but many of the questions are devised with false expectations or preconceptions, or are impossible to answer as you cannot provide a logically consistent answer.

I don't know that this is particularly a good "empathy" test so much as a test with empathy-related questions (some tenuously so) that autistic people tend to score low on. It makes no clear distinction between affective and cognitive empathy, for example, and some of the questions are too vague or otherwise problematic in ways I can't seem to explain this very moment.

Agreed, I thought similar.

I scored 37 which is in the low end of average.

I've tried these before, also did a few for my formal diagnosis. On this quiz i told myself "Right try really hard to be yourself and think as if you were is someone else's shoes" Aaaaaaand yeah didn't work. I scored 16, which i may add is an all time high for me, yay for me.

My mom with ADHD just took the quiz, she got 49. I love how I got 14 more points than her and I have Asperger's :D

For the other people complaining of the lack of distinction between emotional and cognitive empathy, see here

I just took this test and scored a 35 which is relatively high for someone who was diagnosed on the autism spectrum such as myself.

Your score: 10
0 - 32 = low (most people with Asperger Syndrome or high-functioning autism score about 20)
33 - 52 = average (most women score about 47 and most men score about 42)
53 - 63 is above average
64 - 80 is very high
80 is maximum

I can care about someone's problems and suffering, but a lot of people I know have said that I am somewhat emotionally detached.
