I find it odd how any one even me can be into metal music. But I thought about it and the fans based for metal music is already about just being you're self and many many NT metal heads are all ready out there for what ever reason. So I think it's easy for someone with aspergers to fit in with metal heads. In other words you don't have to act like someone you are not. Becasue heck half the fans base is already putting on any act. Heck even some of the people that play the music put on any act.

So it's a kind of music in which we don't have to put on any act at all.

I hear music a lot in my head. After all, it is my passion. Everything I do resonates a note, and from that a measure. Sooner or later, I am both composing and remembering music. It is quite lovely.

Classical music is from God himself.

Does anyone else get this?

I first started it when I would listen to my favourite song at the time frequently pretty much every day. When I had my full attention on the music, I would feel the music filling me up and I would go mad. Since I found my love for house music and found lots of songs I really like, I'm doing it all the time. One song in particular, if I'm listening to it properly, I'll throw my head around and flap my hands like crazy and jump around. The ONE time I went out "clubbing", I did not mind being in a crowded place with such noise because I was away in myself with this crazy dancing. I thought this was just what you did but I realised everyone else was just mildly dancing compared to me going totally mental to everything. I just can't control myself and I like fall over.

I once spent an hour doing that kind of hardcore stimming while listening to "Reise, Reise" by Rammstein on repeat. It precipitated a roommate into moving out.

I like it  I hope you didn't mind them moving...

I still laugh at myself over that situation. Because this roommate was welcome to stay, was paying no rent or bills during her stay, and was eating our food. So it makes me wonder... Am I so strange that people won't live with me even for free room and board? It makes me kind of proud, actually. LOL :D

I assume this is sarcasm at play here? If not, I apologies. I find "metalhead/alternative" culture rife with acting, masquerading and falsities - now normally this doesn't bother me, I enjoy a good show, but it's when they start going on about being "individual" and "label-less" that my blood starts to boil:

Look at ANY band who plays metal music, what do you see? At least someone who sports long hair, shredded clothes and lots of black. Look at their fan base, you'll probably see much the same thing (in my experience, I know this is a generalization but I'd say it was a pretty solid generalization ).

This is much the same across most of the genres of music, and they all INSIST on saying they're "individual", it's one big farce. Anyway, rant over  .

I loved my clubbing days back in the 90's. For a few hours i could be in a social environment and not feel awkward or bored. Music has helped me enormously in my life.

Their's this one song from my favorite Japanese heavy metal band Maximum the Hormone where the song is called 'Bikini Sports Ponchin'. ' While listening to it on my earbuds, I'm able to hear everything from the guitar playing, down to the bass doing its awesome riffs. I don't bang my head to it, though, well, sometimes if I'm in a good mood, but I have my stim toy that's my rubber wristband, with me and move it to the beat like crazy.

I do it in my room with the door half closed so no one sees me because whenever I listen to that song, I can't help but do what I do. I didn't know why I would do that, though because I did it when coming back from soccer with some friends (good thing it was dark), but It would always make me happy whenever I do that.

I dance around and everything when I'm in the mood. I just have my stim toy because it helps, if that makes sense.

when I think of an autie night club I think mozart playing softly in the background and a single disco ball while everyone rocks.

 What a great mental image that makes (also that sounds like a place I would enjoy).

If it's music I really like there are two possibilities: 1. If it's a fun song, I will start "dancing" around like a maniac. 2. If it's an "epic" song, I will engage my inner child and pick up a remote or a stick or something and have epic imaginary battles against hordes of enemies =D

He has repeated this over a few days when different people ask him the same question, so I don't think it's just because he had a song stuck in his head at the time. I asked him what kind of music, like fast music or slow music, and he said "All of them! Fast music and slow music and just-right music."

This really intrigues me since I am really into music. He doesn't know enough about music yet to identify genres (classical, rock, country, etc) or instruments, so I can't ask him about that. But I was curious if any of you had ever experienced hearing music in your mind while you stim, or anything like that? If so, what kind of music?

Yes. I have music in my head most of the time. "Fast music and slow music and just-right music". It doesn't affect my stimming for the most part, though I sometimes will do my tapping stim along to the tune of the music I'm hearing. The only thing that really makes the music in my head go away if it is there is listening to my iPod very loudly.

This topic has made me feel less weird!! I also do extreme stemming from music.

VAC's song Machine especially. There is one part where the music just fills my body, every part of my being, and I feel like I'm in another dimension. Music is my solstice, my refuge.

I'm just an NT that hangs out here mostly because I think it's interesting, and obviously there is music that makes some people stim more...

However, is there music that makes you stim less, stop stimming, or prevents you from stimming? If so, please reply! I'm really interested. If there's a specific song or artist or genre that helps, say that too. :)

If I am at a club that is playing one of my favorite songs, you might have to kick me to get my attention.
I think this is "YES. I Do!"

Sincerely,
