thumb sucking and blankies

I sucked my thumb forever but I know my younger sister still does at 22. I think my main thing was rubbing my upper lip though and my thumb just kind of fit. Took me forever stop because it was used more as comfort thing and my life was a roller coaster so...
There is some psychological thing with it though or something that when you use it as a comfort thing and most kids stop because they find other things to comfort themselves those that don't keep their thumbsucking. When you try to break the habit it can actually cause you to stress out because you don't have a way to calm yourself or something like that. There is actually a movie called thumbsucker about the theory. and making fun of it somewhat.

I'm 29 and still suck my thumb, and still sleep with a soft cuddly cat. I always have a cuddly toy with me everywhere I go. If I'm panicky I can hug it.

I don't suck my thumb but I still sleep with my stuffed macaw. Of course he is beat up now and not in good shape anymore since I had him since I was a child. I am 29 now.

I've never sucked my thumb, but I have a couple of favourite blankets and a teddy bear.

Oh yes, till around age 13 or 14 i loved sucking thumb, then it was pencil chewing. got into the taste of pensils just for chewing for very well into adult

Never sucked my thumb. Didn't particularly carry a blanket around everywhere, but sweatshirts and coats seem similar enough to me.

Oh yeah, I used to love chewing on pencils/erasers, too - my favorite kinds of pencils were the ones that had erasers with a sort of "chewable" metal component on their eraser. I ruined a lot of pencils in my day and at school, everyone was reluctant to let me borrow theirs. These days I just bite my nails/cuticles.

I used to suck my thumb and I still sleep hugging a stuffed dog.

I sleep with my stuffed dog Lisa and I have a Nuk 5 pacifier if that counts. :p

I don,t suck my thumb but I have an Iron Man figure that talks and I suck on his arm all the time. I don't do it outside the house though It would cause people to stare at me but I do take my hot toys War Machine and Iron Man out with me for comfort. They go everywhere with me I could NOT be without them.

I sucked my thumb until I was about 7 as well. I stopped because I was tired of my long nail scratching the roof of my mouth... AND I couldn't clip them because I needed my long nails because I was convinced that I was a cat.

Now, I share my bed with loads of plushies and the occasional dog or cat.

I stopped sucking my thumb when I was around 11 years old.
Never had a blankie but I always had stuffed toys and I still do. If I am sad I always hug my stuffed bunny when trying to get to sleep. Funny enough I dreamed of him last night lol

I never sucked my thumb, but I still have a blanket. It's not the original blanket I had when I was a baby, however I've had this one since I was around 5 years old. I'm almost 21 now.
