I want to at least get the ball rolling on a diagnosis (adult)...is there anybody who's been through it who can tell me the best place or way to go about it???

Dr. Shawn Stewart does assessments and has a good reputation. I'm not sure whether he works with adults, but he can probably refer you to someone who does if that's not part of his practice. Dr. Susan Halter (an MD who now has a therapy practice) doesn't do testing, but she is a great coach if you are looking for practical help with improving your social skills, communication, etc.
