I love hugs, but it has to be with someone I'm already very comfortable with.

Nope, I hate them.
The only people who get hugs are my mother and my kids, I don't even like it when my wife tries to hug me.
My one sister tries but she can tell that it makes me uncomfortable and if anybody tries i just tell them No thanks i would rather not.

I used to like hugs from my mother as a kid but felt very uncomfortable about giving or getting a hug from anybody else. I have a real phobia about that kind of thing and if someone other than my mother hugged me I felt threatened and I just go rigid. I would far more readily run up and hug a dog than a human.

A sincere hug is a transfer of heavy positive emotion. It's great when you get hugged, I love it! That is, unless the person is just doing it for a laugh and to scare you. :P
I find that males don't hug other males, so naturally, if I'm getting hugged by a male that isn't a relative then it's just for a laugh and insincere. A genuine friendly hug is more likely to come from a female.
Either way, enough education on hugging, I love them in the right context. ^_^

it all depends on the person.

I don't really like recieving hugs from my family, but will do it to be polite. Hugs are okay from a boyfriend if they give me warning; if not, they'd better be prepared for whatever Aspie-instinct comes out. lol. Other than that, hugs aren't my favourite thing. I feel threatened by anyone else touching me unless they give me warning.

I like them sparingly. I don't mind if my mother hugs me, but I wouldn't like strangers in large groups doing it, as in those meetings where people do "group hugs." I get sick from people's body odor and reeky perfume, so I won't give hugs to or receive them from just anyone.
