I think many people on the spectrum have a vivid imagination, however I think it's better to have a positive outlet such as art or something creative to keep that imagination fixated in a positive and healthy way.

All too much. I get lost in my internal worlds to the point that I end up neglecting my real-life obligations.

It's a struggle to stay present and in 'reality' so to say, as the dreamworld is such an intensively grand and mesmerizing place.
I wouldn't want to be without it, though. It's escapism at its finest. (Ha, my achille's heel!)

When I channeled my creative ticks into writing, I improved massively as a Scribe... It's a huge time-sink, though.
So yes, as Wolfheart stated - it's common for people on the spectrum have their own sanctuary, so to say.

I'm often in my own little world, and Wolfheart, that's often where I come up with some of my most creative ideas for my music - so for me, it is productive as well as an enjoyable escape from reality.

What you are describing sounds very much like Maladaptive Daydreaming, a disorder that causes excessive daydreaming. The daydreaming is often elaborate and detailed, like a book or movie. Look up Maladaptive Daydreaming in a search engine and see what you think.
