Uhh this was posted weird but I imagine It was directed at me as it has my name so...yes it is up to the individual what risks they want to take, and sometimes I find benefits out-weighing risks. Also curiosity is a hard thing to suppress. lol

To formulate my question abit more concrete: Consider any group of drug abusers, e.g. alcoholics, or the heroin addicted, .... shouldn't there be any high percentage of aspies in each of them? If the world is such terribly intense for aspies, shouldn't they then have a significance share in each group of addicted?

My question is: Why aren't aspies more visible in the groups of drug addicts? Why aren't they more addicted? If they feel so much bitterness, why are the not get addicted more? According to our theories, shouldn't the percentage be higher?

aspies who do drugs generally stick to pot, which isnt addictive, habituating yes, addictive no

you wont see much in the heroin or cocaine department much and since we are a minority of the overall population its not surprising those that do drugs are not addicts

While I respect other posters' revulsion to social necessities, I'm aware that I personally need social interactions to further myself in life. I tolerate this need by treating socialization as a complex game. And I do like games.
However, some days, I'll get really scared to play. Opiates would counter that fear, and I'd be all raring to go socialize. However, in hindsight, I wasn't doing any favors by nodding off an hour after the boldness wears off. Being seen as a druggie is even worse than being seen as an aspie, as at least some people are understanding about autism. That isn't the case with drugs.

hmm I smoke it to help with psychological issues, without it I don't do too well. But its hard to tell if that's just because I have nothing to reduce the symptoms...or if its the lack of cannabis specifically.

I believe there is fairly good evidence that almost all people from before recorded history have used drugs.

Bertrand Russell put is something like this: " (paraphrase probably but attributed) The indians took peyote and other drugs to believe, for a very brief moment, that they were better off alive than dead.

You know, the happy hunting ground, lots of virgins or maybe Cherry Coke but only if you really, really, believe and are willing to trundle off here or there and kill some people to remind them who is in charge.

I was looking up stuff on marijuana cause it is becoming legal in more and more states, or will be in a few years it seems like. I only found one site that said that. But if that statistic is true then I think the percentage for people with autism would be higher, because (at least I think this is true) generally people with autism have addictive personalities

I use almost all drugs, and there is no one drug that i wanne use everyday. Why dont get i an addict? Trolololololololol. I just want to study the whole day.

I'm not really into drugs, but I've been on Risperdal for seven years, and that stuff was really nasty.
Still having some withdrawal effects a few months after quitting.
I did hear from someone with some form of autism who became very violent for a short while after smoking some ganja.
