I can't just get into bed and go straight to sleep. I have to get into bed and watch a DVD or something before I go to sleep.

But I'm funny because some nights I can get to sleep straight away and wake up at a reasonable time in the morning, other nights it takes me ages to fall asleep, other nights I fall asleep then become wide awake in the early hours of the morning, and other nights I kind of toss and turn all night and keep dreaming on and off. And it all happens randomly, nothing can stop it. I can have a whole bottle of coke (which has caffiene in it) and still have a good night's sleep, or I could do a lot of exercise and be wide awake half the night. I could be extremely anxious about something but have a good night's sleep, or I could be out socialising all day and still be wide awake that night. So what I eat, what I do, and how I feel does not affect my sleep.

I'd say 7 times out of 10 I sleep well. And I couldn't tell you how many good nights I get a week because, like I said, it's always so random. I do go to sleep the same time every night too. I sleep about 8-9 hours a night. Well, that's roughly how long I spend in bed a night, whether I can sleep well or not.

As a child it often took me around 30 minutes to even an hour to fall asleep. But as I got older, I would go to sleep quicker. Now, as an adult I am usually asleep in 10-20 minutes. I do tend to wake up once or twice through the night.

That's quite similar my usual sleep pattern. However,. It quite often deviates from my usual cycle; it can sometimes take me 30-45mins to fall asleep. Also, I do tend to wake up about 2-3 times a night and not always end up going back to sleep for quite a while.

I have terrible trouble sleeping. I'm on meds for it now.

Before I started the meds I used to have to think that I was super man. I had to be indestructible and killed all the bad guys. This put me at ease, then I used to drop off.

Racing thoughts keep me awake, but I sleep very soundly. I once slept through an alarm

It takes me a long time to go to sleep, at least an hour but usually 2 or 3 hours. Because of my job I have to go to bed at 7 pm and get up at 2 am so its tough to get enough sleep, especially since its still light out at 7.

My sleep patterns vary from day to day and one day I sleep well and seem to fall asleep easily and another day have more trouble falling asleep. When I was kid it seemed like I did not fall asleep as easily as my younger sister.
When I wake up in the night I cannot always fall back asleep that easily. Growing up I thought of myself as more of a night owl. Most days I hit the snooze on my alarm at least two to three times. This morning when my alarm first went off I think it was part of my dream and then finally I woke up 20 to 30 minutes later and realized "hey my alarm is going off." Luckily I set my alarm extra early so I was not late for work. 8)

It normallybtakes me about 20 minutes to fall asleep. Oddly the less sleep I get the better I function the next day (4 hours=high functioning, 8 hours= dead tired). Most of the time sounds easily wake me, but not always. Whem I was younger my dad accidentally threw a rock theough my window (he locked himself out and was aiming for the wall, to wake me up), and I didn't wake until an hour later when he got an extra key from the landlord and came in.

Normally I find it very easy to sleep, unless something in the day has got me worked up. I tend to have this odd habit of playing out fantasy scenarios in my head as I am laying there trying to sleep. But then I fall asleep and forget where in my fantasy I got upto :p Also sometimes I find it hard to sleep if there is complete silence. I have to open a window for some background noise.

Yup, sounds like me. I wake at five to six, though.

Like a log.

Head hits the pillow and I'm out. Very slow to wake up and warm up in the morning, and loud children bouncing on the bed early in the morning ensure I don't sleep as long as I'd like.

I sleep pretty soundly.
I always loved layering blankies on top of me:
fluffy one feels nice against the skin, with a comforter on top for softness,
and any other blankies/quilts atop that, for pressure.
This is one of my "hindsight is 20/20" lifetime preferences RE Autism.

I try to sleep on my back, having venous insufficiency and having to keep my feet propped up,
but it's not natural to me- I almost always flip to one side or the other, my bottom arm under my pillow, my top one holding the covers beneath my chin.

Conditions must be:
warm
lit, but not too brightly- a nightlight is required
dead silent, or with a small amount of white noise such as a fan

I sleep anywhere from 8-15 hours at a time, usually 10-12. I forget when I woke up and stay up too late 24-36 hours sometimes.. then get overtired so it causes me to sleep so long. It also takes me awhile to wake up/gather my senses 30-45 min. Because of this I end up cycling the clock over and over.. When I have to wake at a certain time you have to drop a bomb next to me to wake me, then it usually causes a migraine later in the day. I've always been like this. When I was a baby my mum said she took me out of my crib (I'd been napping) dressed me, took me to a party, handed me around to everyone for a few hours, then came home and put me back in the crib.. I hadn't woken once. My body craves sleep during the hours the sun is up too.. I'm more likely to keep to a certain time frame if I keep to night owl hours.

Always takes me at least half an hour, sometimes up to an hour to fall asleep - even when I'm exhausted. Used to take me much longer when I was little.

When I was younger it took me hours to get to sleep. Nowadays it isn't too bad. I do have an over active mind when I'm laying in bed. I don't understand how some people can fall asleep in seconds or minutes.

I need around 10 hours a night. Any less and I feel so tired and irritable and if it's for something like work then it has also made me very very down. Being up at 5:30 or 6:00AM every day would eventually drive me absolutely crazy.
