Does anyone else do this? Last exmple. I bought a pen online, and daydreamed about having it. I put a picture of the pen on my desktop, at work! Sometimes I'd just stare at it. Ive done this with water bottles (I own more of those than I care to admit), and a watch. I don't consider myself materialistic or addicted to shopping though.

Sometimes I'll spend hours online looking at pens and water bottles. Once I spent about 3 weeks, hours a day, looking at mala bracelets. Ive also done the same with chimineas. Is this typical?

I just bought three shirts online. I am a bit worried though, because I have no idea how they will fit or look on me. I can't wait to get them and start wearing, though. There's something fun about buying online.
I tried to buy a shirt yesterday. I rarely really love clothing I see in a catalog, but this shirt was different. I actually thought it really cute and made the effort to call the toll free number to order it. The customer service rep took all my info down and I thought the shirt as good as in my hands and then suddenly, heartbreak. The shirt had been sold out in all sizes. None were left anywhere in any form. It devastated me. It was one thing I actually liked and it was gone.

Sigh.

I had a shirt I got from another catalog. It had a huge purple caterpillar on the front, the one from Alice In Wonderland, on a toadstool smoking a hooka. On the back, it said "who are you," in hooka smoke. I absolutely loved that shirt. Very rare for me to love clothing. To this day I love it. I put it in the back yard on a clothes line to dry one day and never saw it again after that. I have searched all over the internet to find another just like it. It was rather weird and unattractive big, blobby, purple caterpillar. I have found other similarly themed shirts but none look exactly like it. I don't like any of them. So, I lament that lost shirt.

Sigh.

Those are example of catalog shirts, I got through the mail, sorta like online shopping.

Then, there's a shirt I bought at a Six Flags theme park I wore until it had holes and fell apart. I absolutely loved it too. Not as much as the caterpillar, but close. Very close. I thought I could find another shirt like it at the theme park, but no. The shirts they sell now are all ugly and nothing like it. I find the newer shirts so hideous. Why can't they keep the same designs year after year? Why do all the good things disappear, never to be seen again? It's not fair.

Sigh.

I can spend hours searching eBay for quilts or blue items or whatever. I think it's fine to do if it's not getting in the way of work etc. The anticipation of getting the item releases dopamine in your brain, which makes you feel good.

You're lucky.

I buy something online and obsess until I return it.

I have terrible buyer's remorse, even when I really need something.

Not only do I obsess about my online purchases (looking at the pictures online, reading everything I can about the product, talking about it with anyone who will listen...) but I check the tracking info once the item ships every few hours at first and even more often as time passes.

I damn near went insane last year when I ordered a Dell Laptop and it was backordered due to supply issues (because of the Flooding in Thailand I believe). I checked the web site for status updates once an hour or more and called them several times a day (and I hate calling anyone on the phone other than my own family).

OMG I'm exactly like this!! !! !! ! If I'm intending on buying something I totally obsess about getting it!
I just bid on an ebay auction the other day and was so depressed when I didn't win the auction because it's something that I can't easily find..
It's as if I already bonded with the item before I'm even sure I'll get it.

That tracking thing is murder! I'm checking it every chance I get! It's like all I can think about until it shows up, and then a month later it's just another thing, and I feel I wasted so much thought on it that I feel bad about it!

I dislike buying things, I can't stand shopping, I'm very anticonsumerist...

Yet when I've ordered something online, I'll obsessively track its shipping until it comes in. Even if its cat litter.
