Is this always a bad thing? Cause I enjoy touching things and myself(in a nonsexual way ^_^.) Like soft blankets, and kitties, and anything that might feel interesting. And i like being warm, and i prefer touching something. Like clothing or blankets or a bed.
But i detest rough and restrictive things. I've torn some things to shreds and burned them I hated them so much.

My boyfriend is amused by the way I touch and smell objects that interest me. Whenever I see fluffy down feathers I have the urge to rub them on my face, they are so soft. I hold my tame bird up to my face so I can feel and smell the feathers (they smell like old books). If something looks as if it may have a pleasant texture I have to touch it and can spend ages in a daze running my hands through some furry fabrics.

But yes of course the other side of that is not so pleasant, there are so many things I can't wear and why do most socks have elasticated tops? :(

One of my cats is extremely fluffy and I find it very difficult to walk past her without rubbing my face in her fur.

I smell and hear things that most people just think I'm makeing stuff up. I like it when people try and wisper things about me and I come back and repeat what they said verbaitim back. I can also tell the twins I work with apart by scent.

I'm compelled to sniff and feel anything I buy, regardless of what it is. This applies to everything from clothing, cds, books, and linens, to toys (yes, I buy myself dolls, get over it ) and household items. I also do this surreptitiously when shopping, so as not to freak out other shoppers or annoy store employees, hehehe... :D Shops with lovely smelly things (like soaps and candles) and soft, fluffy things (like pillows and comforters) are pure sensory overload. *Faints* Bwahahaha!! !

I am very hypersensitive to touching, tasting, and smelling things. So I never do it. I hate it really. If I can get away with not having to do any of them, I will.

As for smelling, I want plain air (the fresher the better). And for tasting, only foods that I like when I am hungry. And smelling foods I like when I'm hungry, too, of course.

I do love petting my cats though. And touching my pillows. But every hard surface feels incredibly sticky to me for some reason. Hence, I tend to wash my hands a lot.

When I was younger, when my hands felt hot I would put them against hard surfaces which were generally cooler than my hands. And then move them to a new spot each time that spot got warm. I would still do it today when my hands get hot if it the surface now didn't feel so sticky to me and make me want to go wash my hands. Even right now my keyboard hand rest is bothering me. Sigh. :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

I am the same way. I like to touch blankets and other things.

On ocassion I like to rub my face into my pillow

When I was younger I would bite my wrists and ankles and I would get a great sense of euphoria out of it.

I used to have incredible hearing but that's failing as I get older. Still can hear things at pitches inaudible to others. I have not been able to wear synthetics against my skin all my life. I am very sensitive to texture so I can't eat food prepared in certain ways. When I was a kid I would eat raw hamburger, but didn't like it cooked. Luckily my mother's seasoning essentially cooked it. Hated tuna until I found ways to eat it raw. Still don't like pebbly texture: rice, and other grains unless they're cooked past recognition. Also material things, if the texture feels bad I can't use it.

I don't mind people touching me if they have good touch. Hard to define that. One, not by surprise, two, not in a tickly way, three, smell good - not smell in the typical sense; that's the best way I can describe it, dogs smell fear, I smell good people.

I do have a good sense of smell. And taste. I can go to a restaurant and eat a dish, then go home and make it without the recipe.

I have a very sensitive nose. I can smell a cigarette a good half mile away at best. Ver ystrong smell, aggravating too. Diagnosed OCD and Hypersensitive, so you can imagine how sensitive I am. I don't touch animals except for dogs & cats (petting zoos are Hell), rough surfaces, and I can't think of anything else, but I'm pretty sensitive. Also have a good nose for food.

I have a friend who stims on shopping malls. I find them unbearably overloading, but used to stim on them. We talked about how a really pleasant stimulus can often be inches away from overload. So all the strange visual effects of shopping malls can be either fun or excruciating but it's a fine line, for instance.
