Lefty and proud of it :D I have a theory that the idea of premature birth causing AS and left-handedness is interrelated (I've been told a lot of preemies are lefties because the right side of their brain develops faster or something). So, maybe it's not the AS causing the left-handedness, maybe it's the premature birth causing both.

I am a righty, but only because my first grade teacher made me write with it. Prior to that, I was ambidextrous. I can still do a fair amount with my left hand, though.

I use my right hand for fine motor skills like sewing stitches, writing and carving wood with exacto type knifes.
I use my left for turning wrenches, lifting, and where ever strength is needed.
I'm ambidextrous but consider my self right handed because that's what I use for delicate work.
When fighting I use my right more for upper cuts and jabs left for longer more powerful but slower punches.

I answered Righty because that's my "natural" hand, but when I was a kid I started to train myself to write also with the left because 1) it's boring to write with always the same hand ( ) and 2) the world would collapse if I hurt myself and I weren't able to write.

It did turn out very handy

WOAH WOAH WOAH. WOAH.

Your avatar is amazing. Little Prince plus Doctor Who? Win. So much win.

Anyways, that's probably a good thing. I can use my hands for lots of things depending on the situation. Like, I use right-handed scissors and throw a football with my right hand [I use my legs for throwing if that makes any sense, so I'm always pushing off on my left leg].

I don't think that AS is linked to premature birth though. Do you have anything that says it's linked?

Also, lefties are more likely to be geniuses, and I thought that preemies are more likely to have low IQs. I might be wrong. I dunno.

When I was learning how to write I was a lefty but my teacher thought it would be better for me in the "long run" to be right handed. I am dominantly right handed now.

A left-handed individual may be known as a southpaw, particularly within sports in the United States. It is widely accepted that the term originates in baseball[13]. Ballparks are often designed so that the batter is facing east, in order that the afternoon or evening sun does not shine in his eyes. This means that left-handed pitchers are throwing from the south side. The first use of the term is credited to Finley Peter Dunne. However, the Oxford English Dictionary lists a non-baseball citation for "south paw", meaning a punch with the left hand, as early as 1848[14], just three years after the first organized baseball game.

Right handed, left-eye dominant.

Do most things right handed. But when it comes to shooting photographs and firearms, I focus through the viewfinder and on the front sight and target with my left eye and shoot left-handed. If I were to take up archery, I'd have to shoot left-handed too.

Born lefty, but my mother changed me when I was a toddler. Now I write with my right hand (casted vote for Righty in poll), and not coincidentally perhaps cannot tell left from right without great effort!

So far it's not so much an abundance of lefties as it is a lot of people who are not right-handed.

Still interesting.

Sure a great number of ambedextrous people here, must have
something to do with the Autism spectrum.
I can use both hands equaly, as well.
I have a hell of a time telling left from right.
