I don't actually remember doing this but I got this weird almost deja-vu feeling that I could feel a pointy collar in my mouth and even taste it, so maybe I did when I was really little. I remember eating the ends off burnt matches because I liked the salty taste and running outside after rain storms to slurp the water off the iron stair railings. That was during the worst of my tiptoe walking. And now I think I know why all the ends of ribbons on all my clothes were frayed.

I've gotten that feeling from a lot of posts on this subject. I think I used to put things in my mouth when I was young more that I realized. I can pictures how ribbons and sweatshirt string-ends feel in my mouth. One thing I do remember doing even into my teenage years was putting plant bits in my mouth. I like plants.

I'm glad you didn't poison yourself--eek.

I suddenly remembered something else I used to chew on--the ends of my shoelaces. They tasted salty, too. I also ate salt out of the salt shaker. Couldn't get enough of it. I'm surprised I didn't kill my kidneys.

Yes! I used to chew the collar of my polo shirt when I was at school. I did it so frequently that my class teacher actually brought it up as a concern when she met my family. I also used to have some hoodies and jackets that had bits of fabric on the zippers, and I'd always put the zipper into my mouth so I could chew on the material.

I grew out of it when I was about seven or eight. I have no idea what made me stop, or what made me start in the first place.

Shirt collars, nails, hair, erasers, pencils, cupboard handles, you name it.

Yes, I used to chew on my sleeves frequently, which resulted in a large hole on the sleeve of my school uniform.
I still chew on my hair from time to time, but everyone told me to stop it since it's supposed to be a disgusting habit so I ceased doing so some time ago.

Not my shirt because I can't stand the feel of fabric in my mouth, but I have and still chew on any thing plastic, particularly soft plastic.
