It seems that a lot of people on this board have good spelling and grammar and have low tolerance for reading posts with bad spelling and grammar. I have bad spelling and grammar due to my dyslexia, spell check is a lifesaver. Are there other people on here with bad spelling/grammar too?

Edit: With my spelling, I scramble the sounds and letters a lot. See the letters and sounds is sometimes scrambled in my pronunciation so my spelling is effected.

You're not the only one. I have seen some other poor spellers on here too. I just assume they have a learning disability so it effects their spelling and grammar.

You know what's funny? I'm an aspie and I write short stories. When I get critiqued, they don't know I'm an aspie and they don't care. I don't get ay sympathy because I'm aspie - and I prefer that. If my spelling and grammar is bad, I want to know. The common goal is excellence is writing. So, yeah, I've had to work VERY HARD on correcting my grammar & spelling. I don't have a choice.

Im not really asking for sympathy, if you can't/or dont want to read my posts, I dont care. I'm asking this because it seems to be an "aspie" thing to be super exact with spelling and grammar. And I was wondering if any aspies were the opposite of this, like me?

I don't have the best spelling nor grammar skills when I am writing, but can more readily see errors in others' writings than in my own writing.

If it were not for spell check I would have a great deal of problems writing. I failed spelling class even though I studied for it frequently through the age of 12. Typing has improved my spelling some, but only to a limited degree.

If it's clearly accidental or the person lacks the knowledge of how to spell or use grammar correctly, I'm alright with it. It's when people troll gibberish on purpose that pisses me off.

I generally have pretty decent grammar, but my spelling is atrocious. (mostly only easier/more common words)

I blame "silent letters" and having multiple pronunciations for many letters; it's just to difficult to keep track.

Grammar is no problem, but I always use a spellcheck.

Terrible spelling. It seems I can never learn to spell many words as much as I try. I have spell check constantly on to inform me of my screw-ups and I use it often. I also can't grasp the rules of writing at all. If you ask me to identify a verb, pronoun, adverb, clause, etc, etc, etc, I can't do it. I know the words but how they relate to a sentence is beyond me. Same with punctuation I just do it by feel. I got an A in college composition based on my papers but everything they talked about in class was like a foreign language.

Yes! I still cannot recite or intuit the alphabet chronologically but, with writing & editing as special interests powering my discipline, this idiot finally got a grip. Of course the computer era sped along my education. If I can write with form, anyone can.

Even though bad spelling and grammar can and will annoy me to a certain degree, I won't ever start complaining about it, considering that I make those same mistake often enough myself. If, however, somebody obviously does it on purpose, I'll more often than not just completely ignore what they are saying. If you can't make the effort of using normal grammar, than it's probably not worth reading anyway.

I take my time, use spell check and reread everything 3 times and my spelling is still terrible.
