What is the best place to live for people with autism or AS?

What do you think is the best place to live for people with autism or AS, or any other form of autism? What makes it better than other places? I mean mainly countries, but parts of countries or cities are OK, as well.

Not sure what I'd pick. Certainly not my area (Alaska).

Where I live (Houston, Texas) might not be a good place if you've got major sensory issues (especially to heat/humidity and loud thunder). But people here are very accepting of people on the spectrum.

I'm sure the aspies down there would find life more "lekker gezellig", with a soft g of course.

What about Amsterdam in the Netherlands?

Avoid korea where I am now, constant noise, flashing lights everywhere, hot humid climate, and obsession with social norms and appearences. I thank god I'm leaving soon.

I would say right here in the Washington DC area!
There are many organizations, meetup groups, services, activity groups and support groups for adults on the spectrum. There are also a few local autism specialists who diagnose adults and an excellent public transportation system!

I would suggest where ever the people are nice and friendly. People tend to be more friendly when they are not stressed. Like for intense . The ghetto is where a lot of violence takes place so people are stressed , so people are not nice. The city is where people work mostly and there are stressed . However if you go to the beach everybody is so much nicer and less stressed. And I believe the best way to live in life is to be far from bad stress. (Illegal Drugs are not the way out either) And its easier not to be stressed when you are around non stressed people. Not that I like being around people but its something that most people have to accomplish to become successful in life. Something else that I find cool is that i like lots of music but i really like music that takes away stress like jimmy buffet , most country music , Hawaiian music , switchfoot jason marz . And all of these artiest are from stress less environments like the beach or the country. SO i would say the best place to live is with a people who care about you and where they have a good church and the beach or country.

I just moved to Seattle for the weather, then I find out I'm light sensitive because I'm an aspie. So far, it was a great decision. The weather is easier on the eyes--lots of overcast days. And there are lots of aspie resources in the area. With so much tech influence and tech families, the rate of Asperger's is higher in Seattle, so you have more experts on it.

Bohemia, of course! Seriously, my Aspie traits were never so inconspicuous as when I fell in with a group of bohemians.

As a non aspie but the mother of one where I live is pretty good (Melbourne, Australia). For my son there was $12,000 worth of funding for therapies until he turned 7, he goes to swimming and Ju jitsu especially for kids with additional needs ( any disability recognized by the government although most of the kids are on the spectrum), we see one of the best speeches in Australia, and other good therapists are around. He gets government funding ( though not much) for school. For me as parent I get $55 a week from government as Carers allowance, this is regardless of our family income- we use it to help pay for therapies), there are lots of support groups, we get heavily subsidized respite from our local council. All in all it's a great place to live- I'm glad I moved from a different city a few years ago.

A city or town with at least one college or university would be a good start. Also, what are your areas of interest? Check out which cities seem to offer more for learning and recreating in your favorite activities or areas of interest. Check out which cities have Yahoo Meetups in your topics of interest.
And what kind of climate are you wanting? (Windy, hot climates make people cranky and it makes them drive worse---I don't recommend moving to Arizona )

San Francisco bay area is very tolerant of differences. The drawback is it's expensive as hell.

In the woods somewhere where nobody bothers me.

specifically: A place with no common walls or too close to neighbors and well ventilated.

generally: A cooler place where the humidity isn't too high, good air, easy places to get outside away from crowds/alone/artificial sounds and commune with nature.
