I love those toy dinosaurs and toy animals made by this specific company. You can find them in middle class children's stores since they're mid range priced. I have been eyeing them for years with the intention of starting a collection. I will probably get my first one sometime this month and I'm 31! ;) I am "too old" for them but I don't care.

too old my arse. Dinosaurs rock and if it makes you happy stuff every one else. And yes im being polite.

This was by my 25 year old NT house mate. Several of us were talking about this post last night (aged 24-37) and have to say only one person thought it odd.

Well they say that the difference between a boy and a man is the cost of his toys.
I own a powerful motorcycle and "play" with that as often as I can.

When you look at the grand scheme of things, it's not unusual at all. Think of all the adults playing with game consoles, Nerf/ Paintball/AirSoft guns. Those are all toys. Nobody hassles them terribly much over playing with these things, so I fail to see an issue with playing with toy dinosaurs.

There is nothing wrong with playing with toys. It's just not "socially acceptable" to regular society. So, basically, the only way that can affect you is if you care if people see you as normal or not. If you don't care, carry on. If you do, then you should stop playing with toys because people won't think you are normal.

It is very possible to be mature in other ways and still have child-like interests and enjoyment. I think it is a good thing.

Indeed... And I'm pretty sure we ALL have some sort of "childish" interest or desires. In fact, I KNOW for a fact that we all do. I know a lot more parents these days than I did when I was younger(I mean I knew parents, I just didn't really know them well. I never liked or trusted authority figures much, and most of them liked to look down on me), and it's so funny how they get all excited about getting a toy or something for their kids so that(in their own words), they will have an excuse to play with those toys again.

See, you're more honest than they are, even to yourself about what you like. You just like dinosaurs, so you play with dinosaurs, and there is NOTHING wrong with that. The only difference between you and those parents is that you don't feel you need an excuse because either you don't care what society has to say about it, or you're simply completely ignorant of it. In either case, play on. My dad's been telling me I was too old for videogames since I was about 12. I told him to go pound sand.

Sounds to me like an advertising tactic used to get people to feel emasculated and then run and buy a big obnoxious loud motor of some kind to feel masculine again...

I'm 23 and I sometimes still play with my toy cars (MicroMachines, Matchbox, Hot Wheels, etc)

That's completely fine! Dinosaurs are awesome! I used to love playing with them and I used to be obsessed with the subject as well, that is until I got obsessed with dragons. :D Now I play with dragons and obsess over the subject even though they're not scientifically real hahaha :P

It's okay. I still play Pokemon and watch cartoons and play trading card games. :P

Besides, playing with dinosaurs is a lot more interesting than shopping and cars. Not that there's anything wrong with shopping or cars of course! But dinosaurs are cooler. Hehehe

I played with toy animals in the yard until I was in high school. I still have many of them. They were mostly dinosaurs, too.

There's nothing wrong with still liking dinosaurs...dinosaurs are awesome! My reasoning is, if you really like something, you're never too old for it. :) I'm 20 and have a whole bunch of stuffed animals, G1 My Little Ponies, and die cast Cars. I'm also really into animated films. :D

I see nothing wrong with playing with toys at 18. I played with baby dolls till I was 16. To be totally honest with you I would still play family with my barbies and stuff now except my mom scolded me so much as a teenager for playing with them that I started thinking of unpleasant things ever time I thought about picking one up and I still do that. If that didn't happen though I would be playing with them again for sure. My advice to you is keep being who you are, because who you are is a uniquely awesome person. Actually you posting this has really helped me realize that I'm not alone, thank you.

I'm almost 30 and still occasionally "play". I have a weird attachment to shark toys (I'm a shark biologist), and I look to putz around with legos. I sleep with the same stuffed animal I've had since I was born when I'm away from my husband. The way I see it, it's perfectly acceptable for adults to play video games, etc, so how is this any different? When I'm stressed, reverting back to childhood for a few minutes is a nice escape.

I am 17 years old and i still enjoy playing with toys, although mostly in private as i fear being judged for it, i have more mature interest but i cant help but enjoy playing, i have always had a vivid imagination and when i am playing with a toy i can see a scene in my head, i remember once my dad told me i had to stop buying toys when i was about 12, i lasted about a month only buying one toy but eventually things seemed so dull i started buying again and it made me much happier, i see nothing wrong with playing with toys so long as it makes you happy
