Deleting irrelevant and ridiculous postings
Yes, that's what I was suggesting, as well. I think it would offer an easy solution to the problem that seems to have arisen.
As a number of you have said - what is relevant and pertinent to one is bollocks to another. For this reason, I wish to leave.
No Magic - your posts are generally interesting.
Earmarking what I would view as ridiculous posts?
i.e. "What do Aspies want most?" - I would have said most of us have similar aspirations to the general populace in this regard.
Someone wrote a joke on the "Eligible Odd-Bods" forum - the purpose of the thread was stated quite clearly, and yet all instructions were ignored.
These are only two of many examples.
The header of this website says "WrongPlanet.net - The online resource and community for those with Asperger's Syndrome". I think there is some degree of false advertising in this statement. What about "The online resource and community for every Tom, Dick, and Harry"?
Whether or not this was meant to be an attack, Tyrone, it certainly reads like one, to me. The fact that you've only responded to Magic's question of "are my posts irrelevant?" leads me to believe that you feel the rest of us who have asked the same question are posting irrelevant material. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I don't think it's fair of you to make these types of remarks about other people's posts. As others have said, this is a place where we all come to be comfortable, and to share our thoughts and opinions- ideally without this type of criticism. Understandably, there will be disagreements, but I think that labelling other people's ideas or opinions "irrelevant" is condescending, rude, and bound to hurt a lot of people's feelings. It may even cause them to refrain from posting anything at all, for fear that it will be looked down upon. I'm starting to feel the beginnings of a heirarchy here, and it's making me uncomfortable. Your posts in this thread have all had the air of "my ideas are more intellectual and more important than yours," which is belittling to the rest of us.
"General Discussion" is supposed to be "general discussion," and I really do think that an "AS related" only thread should be started, for those who, like Tyrone, are looking only for serious AS related topics to discuss. Tyrone, you don't have to leave just because there are threads that you find uninteresting. If there is a thread I'm not interested in, I just don't read it, and I think it's fairly easy for you to do the same.
I personally enjoy having a little bit of "fluff" or "silliness" in addition to the serious topics. That was one thing that I found was a bit lacking on Aspergia, I'm sorry to say. Reading about the hardships people face all the time can, atleast for me, get very depressing. It's good, in my opinion, to have a balance. Obviously, if you don't want that, no one is forcing you to read the "fluff" posts.
Please understand, Tyrone, that I'm not attacking you, I'm just trying to explain my perspective. If I have come off as seeming harsh or angry, it was unintentional. I hope you'll reconsider your choice to leave WrongPlanet, and will stay with us. I also hope we are able to work out some sort of solution that will keep as many members happy as possible.

I have to agree with Civet I do not mean to make you upset in any way you probably didn't know or mean to attack anybody, you called everybody Tom, Dick and Harry which would might make some people upset but we know you didn't mean to like civet said this is a place for people with AS to talk and chat its good that there are alot of serious issues being talked about on the forums but I'm depressed (as most of us are ) and talking about it helps but you don't want to just see alot of sad and serious forums only we also need something happy to talk about to cheer us up for example a girl with AS likes music videos and hears some friendly people talk about some she likes but she wants to join in on the conversation but can't but she finds this place and is able to talk to other people with AS about music videos and is doing something she can't do with actual people and this makes her able to talk about whatever serious or not without the stress that is involved with actual people I hope this explains this to some degree ( hope I spelled degree and involved right ) hope that we can work something out to make you happier

I feel that this is a democratic place and if I've asked any questions that offended anybody, I'm sorry. I'm not going to leave this place just because somebody might not agree with the questions that I ask. I must add that we do need a little bit of fluff because we deal with a lot of the hard hearted garbage that the NT world wants to feed us.
I often like to discuss serious matters in a seemingly lighthearted, almost silly way. I also like to relate my experiences about seemingly trivial matters that I find might be relevant to my autistic condition. I may have Asperger's syndrome, but I do like to socialize. This is just my style.
I know I've made some sarcastic and satirical replies on some message boards about autism and Asperger's syndrome (maybe or maybe not this one) when I think the discussion has become overly pedantic and pointless. This is my way of saying lighten up. One example I can recall at the moment is a satirizing reply to a comment about proper spelling and grammar. Some people took me seriously, not realizing the lampoon I had intended.
This is my way, my personality. Please accept that I cannot be completely serious all the time. I do enjoy humor and frivility every once in a while, too.
By the way, I guess an example of a lighthearted post would be my reply to the Internet Addiction thread in Computers <http://wrongplanet.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=430&start=15>. It is meant as a joke (because I know a few of you will take it literally).
I enjoy having a place to express my opinions, share my experiences, and air questions. I think most members of WrongPlanet will agree with me that this is what the site is meant for. I *am* very offended. You are being mean, belittling members, and just being rude. This is a *community*. Most people here have enough people critizing them without people here critizing them too. Nobody is forcing you to read these posts you depise so much. So don't read them or leave! People here are of all ages and places. Something that is irrevelant to YOU may be of great importance to them. Nobody will die if you don't like the posts. Be nice, be supportive, or GO AWAY!

Catffienated, to whom are you referring? If to TyroneShoelaces, then please note that this thread is two months old, and TyroneSholeaces has not posted anything since that time. On the other hand, since your post is directly after mine, this might mean that you are offended by my words. In that case I apologize, I did not intend to offend anyone.
