I am/was on AFF. But I don't think I'm going to be back for 3 or so days. Someone said something that really crossed the line with me. Hopefully the socialist* idiot who thinks that taking a child the new batman movie is equal to showing a kid pornography (which is... child molestation!) isn't on here.

I don't think showing a kid pornography is quite the same as molesting them. Anyway, what does that have to do with socialism. Anyway, one person does not need to spoil a community just because they have an opinion.

I think that view is more common amongst conservatives than it is amongst the liberals. They're the ones who appear to be campaigning for the banning of violent video games, books with topics they disagree with, and the teaching of methods of birth control other than abstinence. This view seems more in line with their thinking. o.O

In fact, I'm pleased to have you here, but I also think that some members on AFF may miss you if you decide to leave that forum indefinitely. On the old forum I used to post, I had some arguments with a couple of members, and also had to endure posts by severely bigoted, mean-spirited people, but I carried on posting, because I had too much fun with everybody else. It was worth enduring the trolls. Hell, I had a lot more drama over there than I ever had over here on WP, but back when I was still posting there regularly, I loved it more than I did WP. Then I, I dunno, I grew up or matured or something, but I just had to move on, and now I actually prefer WP. But it wasn't because of some jerk-ass over there that made me want to stop posting. Even if AFF doesn't have an 'ignore feature' (dose it? I don't know!), you could choose to ignore the posts by the member in question whenever you see one- or at least one that rubs you the wrong way.

Taking a kid to see the new Batman is the same as showing them porn? Seriously? I agree you probably shouldn't ditch a board because of one idiot, but that was absurd what he said! Oh, and side note, at least where I live, legally speaking, showing a kid pornography actually is child sexual abuse, prosecuted equally to physically molesting a child, so here it actually is considered the same (for the person who stated it isn't the same). My daughter is 4 1/2 and has seen all the Star Wars movies. Some people might look down on me for that, but she has passed being interested in shows directed at her age group, probably because she also has AS (dx'd lsat month). Whether or not a show or movie is okay for a child has much less to do with their chronological age than it does their intelligence and maturity. My daughter, if we go strictly by age, should be watching Barney and Sesame Street, but with her intellect and maturity, she can't stand them, they are beyond boring are babyish to her. If that's the only type of show I should allow her to watch, then essentially that would me she wouldn't be allowed to watch anything at all, because she won't watch those type of shows, and how on earth would that be fair? That would be punishing her for being too smart for her age. Whoever said that to you doesn't know enough about the kid you took to make any judgment whatsoever, let alone one that was so sick and out of line.
