Does anyone here take anti-anxiety medication just to be able to socialize? I cannot stand to be in large groups of people because I get overstimulated. Am I the only one here who has to take medication for anxiety? Sometimes I feel like I am the only one in the world (even though I know it's not true). :?

I don't take it just to socialize but it has helped me. I take abilify and klonopin because I have really bad anxiety due to autism. I also take concerta which isn't for anxiety but still helps the sensory issues i have. My anxiety is really really bad like i said.

I have anxiety problems when I work or attend school. Going to school or work every day is overwhelming and the anxiety is so bad that I get chronically constipated (sorry, yuck factor). I pass really well as neurotypical but it takes a HERCULEAN effort so it's no wonder I end up so anxious that my back is so tense that I'm in agony and I can't poop to save my own life. Plus wheat makes it even worse- a lot worse- so if I have a full-time job and I eat a sandwich I need to medicate with laxatives or I get really sick! But anti-anxiety meds are not good for me, they just make me really apathetic so all I ever do is sit around and hang out fixating on my latest obsession.

I like being a housewife.

Recently i was prescribed Celexa and i have mixed feelings on it.
It makes me feel kind of emotionless which is a good thing for me. it helps with my anxiety and bipolar. i don't get so angry at small things anymore. The side effects are pretty annoying though. It makes my neck feel stiff and i feel like a need to move it around all of the time. also it has made my appetite decrease and that is not good because i'm very skinny already and if i lose much more weight it could be unhealthy.

I use 150 mg Seroquel against constant anxiety.
Used to beef it up with 50 mg Agomelatine, but since I've learned a lot these past years I've stopped taking that.

Stick with it, almost all side effects decline over time, and generally disappear completely.

I take Cymbalta and Lithium for anxiety. I wish they would give me Xanax.

Marijuana is the best. Used to work wonders for me until I got sick from it.

This is all I use currently. I am so sensitive that pharmaceutical drugs have an intense effect on me and I don't usually do well on them. Xanax is bothersome because I'm totally disinhibited... bad thing for an Aspie. Especially me, a very loud, obnoxious person 8) lol!

I take Ativan for anxiety and Lexapro (the refined version of Celexa) for depression. My side affects went away after a couple of months.I was on Celexa at first but had awful drowsiness so they switched me to Lexapro. If your side affects don't get better ask if they will switch you.Weed makes me nervous around people but works for G.A.D. pretty well but it's not legal here.

I take Anafranil for my OCD and panic attacks. It has been a miracle drug for me. Only thing that has worked. I still struggle with OCD/anxiety, of course, but it's actually manageable now. I hate thinking of how many years I suffered going undiagnosed and without treatment...

I take medication not only for my anxiety and panic attacks but for my obsessive compulsive disorder and aggression, mood swings and meltdowns. It helps alot and calms me down it makes me very sleepy but I can go out now without getting sick and handle situations alot better than I did. Im taking 20mg Paroxetine.

I self medicate with marijuana to help my anxiety...I have an appointment set to possibly get prescribed something, but the marijuana could interfere with that so oh well.
