If you had the choice; would you chose not to be born at all, if the alternative was a life living with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and the other encompassing mental health issues (e.g. depression, anxiety, anger etc)?

I'd be as optimistic to say that the world is progressing and developing in such a way that people can handle others with ASD. You just need some help, and the encompassing mental health issues can be dealth with and alleviated. So I would rather want others and myself to live with some defects in the brain. The thought of dieing or not living, when someone with ASD has that strong sense of existence which is a dependant factor for having the mental health issues you're listing, is just too wrong.

I often don't enjoy my life but I'd sooner have lived than not. The nice parts broadly outweigh the unpleasant parts.

I'm not autistic and I would choose to be autistic over non-existent. I'd also choose autistic over a number of other things, like being ignorant or bigoted. Perhaps my feelings would be different if I was autistic, but I highly doubt it.

I would also choose my atypical brand of wiring (whatever it may be called) over non-existence or even a different existence. What if the parts about myself that I really like would disappear with more typical wiring? That would be sad.

I wholly agree with this.

I'll take ASD over nonexistence any day. It's not that bad. I can cope with enough social situations that my life doesn't always suck, and I do have my projects to work on. Plus, I now know at least one other person on the spectrum who has similar interests and so I have someone to mess with cars with.

If I could choose to be born with or without ASD - I'll take the ASD.

Since I didn't even know what I was struggling with, I've been through a lot of pain over the years, but it was still worth it. And I'd rather be me than stand in the crowd cheering for a naked Emperor..

Definitely ASD. I still enjoy life in spite of everything, and I was/will be nonexistent for most of time anyway. :D

If I didn't want to live I'd already do something about it, OP.

If I couldn't exist in this reality could I exist in another one?

Life is kind of good though. I like to eat, learn lots of stuff and do lots of stuff as well. Can't do that when I don't exist.

Autism is hard but I still wouldn't give it up for anything. Everything I've been through has made me the individual I am today. As I like to say, 'an average life tells an average story.' Autism is me. I can't live without it and I wouldn't want to. I not one of those people who necessarily sees it as a good thing, but it's me. And ok, maybe I do like my interests a little bit too much.

I do think that never being born and never having to fear would be better than being born. Forget autism, I'm not sure if any life is worth living.

Having said that, I'm fairly sure the part of me that thinks that is stuck in a bad time.

I'm Autistic and I'm happy to be alive. I'm glad that my mum gave me life, despite the way that she raised me. :)
