I thought that I was the only one that is too chicken to make a GP appointment about this.

Apparently I'm not.

I'm right there with you. I've only seen my current GP twice and it's really hard to get me to go to the doctor in general. Also the issue of having no money is a big roadblock between me and a Dx.

(we have the same doctor) turned out our doctor already had her suspions anyway
I was refered to a shrink, it was about $120 bucks an hour but I feel worth every penny.

Quick update on my end; I went in (I understand the chickening out...not sure I would have made the trip just for AS) and explained to my GP about my issues and even addressed certain social skill-issues I have while talking to him. He seemed pretty concerned and had, I'd say, good to very good knowledge on Asperger's already which was refreshing. He said he actually hadn't ever had to refer someone to a specialist for diagnosis but he did give me a card for a local Neurology Clinic and said to start there and that, basically, he'd make sure we figured it out. Pretty happy about how it went in general but it's going to be a long road.
