I've had a history of being bothered by certain sounds. When flu season starts, everyone is sneezing, coughing, clearing their throats, and sniffling to a point where I can't take it anymore. People tell me I should leave the area even when I don't want to and then I get the feeling I'm in the segregation era except its against people with autism and misophonia. Maybe they should leave because I was comfortable where I was before the sick began to enter the room. It's even worse at home because my dad gets into a sneezing fit three times a month and flu season makes it much much worse.

I actually have the same problem as you, except it's primarily because I don't want to be sick myself. I get incredibly irritated when strangers have the flu and irresponsibly catch transport or go out in public despite the fact that they are aware that they're affecting others. At the same time though, I realise that our immunities are kept in check whenever influenza strains mutate annually, so there's a reason why these things need to keep circulating (unless it was something catastrophic like H5N1, or if you were young or elderly and needed a vaccine to prevent serious complications).
