music --> shape pretty vividly, looks like taffy or something usually though
music --> color in the back of my head
music --> taste vividly
color/light? --> sound, faintly
maybe tasting combinations of colors
certain pictures are warmer than others
probably heat sensations for music (literally this sounds warmer)

I see objects as living creatures such as people, animals and also sperm, even in my artwork.

I wish I had synesthesia. The closest thing I have to Sound/Colour is seeing colours when certain notes/chords are played, but it's not second nature to me, as I'd have to think hard about the colours I'm seeing.

I have two:

number--->form - I'll see timelines in my head when I think of numbers, days of the week, months of the year, different historical dates, etc. They are generally linear with a few slants and bumps.
concept ---> colour - this happens mostly with books of the Bible and songs. When I hear or think of the name, I see the colour in my mind. I think it's different to music ---> colour, as the song doesn't have to be played for me to see the colour. It's the concept of that particular song that triggers the colour.

I don;t really know if this is at all relevant but when I was a kid I used to associate the days of the week with different tastes/food.

Wednesday was mashed potato, Tuesday was Brocolli and so on.

I also have a strange reaction to a certain strawberry flavour, whenever I taste this certain flavour I am reminded of a hospital??

Yep, that sounds like synesthesia‏. I get the same thing sometimes, where a certain flavor will remind me of a certain place, or kind of place, too.

Yes, I have syn, as listed below.

We are also thinking that I have another form, sort of backwards from motion>sound, more like sound>spatial qualities.

Actually have almost participated in some research studies on it....except they're all in England, and I'm across that deep deep pond....

Anyway, my synesthesia helps me learn languages really fast, and play instruments by ear. Cool.

I think I only have a very mild form. Certain letters and numbers have colors to me, others don't.

Ever since I learned about synesthesia I've been very fascinated by it. However, until recently I'd only really heard anything about the more common forms such as sound to color. Now I'm beginning to wonder if perhaps some of the unique perceptions I have of my environment might be a form of synesthesia. For example, the numbers of 0 through 9 have a particular resonance and I can easily memorize sequences of numbers by noting the distance between them. It's rather like when I learned to identify intervals in music by ear. There is a distinct location in space. I don't actually see it but if I note the distance between two numbers I can easily remember them. I also "see" the tuning of music. Usually it's just a location in space in front of me ranging up and down but when singing with a group I see white threads that connect if we're in tune. I can enjoy professional classical music by closing my eyes and feeling and seeing the turns of the melody. If a note goes out of tune very much, I wince. It is painful. I don't typically "see" pop music in this way.

So how many people here have some form of synesthesia? I have two major ones:

1. Sound/Color - Specifically music and color; particularly with electronic music. Like, a lot of trance and industrial I listen to evokes darker, cooler colors in my mind; lots of black, deep purples and reds, all shades of blue, maybe some greens in there somewhere. Rock and metal tend to evoke black, reds, oranges and yellows, too.

2. Voice/Face - I seem to have a very strange knack for being able to imagine, relatively accurately, what someone looks like just from listening to their voice. I can listen to them, then meet them in person or see a photo of them, and my mental image of them is usually quite close to what they actually look like.

I know other types are like with colors and numbers, letters, days of the week, months, etc. but I don't really have any of those. Just really the two listed above.

So what are yours, if any?

I did this test

Synesthesia battery

I read that many people have synesthesia and about 1% of people have distinguishable forms of synesthesia.

I seem to have several forms of synesthesia. I've sort of had it my whole life without ever mentioning it to anyone or giving it much thought until I realized it was unusual and there was a name for this phenomena.

Grapheme -> Color - Seems to have originated from the refrigerator magnets when I was a child. Eventually they went away and then when I was nine, my mother started doing daycare and we got magnets back except I remember some of the colors were wrong. Now as an adult, some of the letters/numbers are multicolored, some are colorless, some are vivid, others opaque. It kind of upsets me. I don't really see the colors all that often. Usually it only happens when I concentrate on the letters of a word or when I read an acronym.

I've always associated people with colors as well. Usually, it has to do with the first letter of their name, but not always. Sometimes they are multicolored according to their letters. I remember when my third grade teacher, who I was on a last name basis with, got married, she changed from white to yellow.

Word -> Color - Some words have colors that have nothing to do with their letters.

Month -> Color - At least that's what its called. I consider it more of a Season -> Color since the colors are more associated with the seasons of my area and they overlap one month to the next.

Emotion -> Color - I'm not even sure how to describe this one. Usually the colors only come to my mind when I think about them, not necessarily when I experience them. I don't experience too many emotions, but for what it's worth this is what comes to mind: anger/madness are purple, joy is green, love is sky blue, hate is black, sadness is blue, happiness and frustration are yellow, fear is actually a pattern of black and green diamonds.

Spatial Sequence - applies to a multitude of applications and number series, sometimes I think of phone numbers spatially like they're notes on a musical scale.

I took the Synesthesia battery for the month color. Not sure how I was suppose to take the grapheme color since some of my letters are multicolored.

I don't think it's true Synesthesia (I don't get colours with music), but I always imagine some things as having certain colours attached to them, such as days of the week.

Grapheme-color synesthesia is also called Ideaesthesia, that is defined by an semantic-color synesthesia.
