I'm 49 and have no children, and so Christmas is pretty much a big bore. I like seeing lights and decorations around (and some of the music), but that's the extent of it.

Everyone these days hates Christmas.

As a natural contrarian, I've chosen to like Christmas.

Besides, watching NTs beat each other down over the last Nintendo Wii U on the shelf is funny.

I don't hate Christmas. I love Christmas. When I was a child it was a magical time and it still is. The decorations, the music, the lights, the food, the toys, everything.

I :heart: Christmas! Receiving gifts is always nice, but now that I'm getting older I like giving presents to my family members even more! I also like the decorations and the music. To quite one song, "it's the most wonderful time of the year!"

I've always been a big fan of Christmas; love the lights and decorations, love the tree and holiday spirit and love the (very occasionally) snowy weather. Of course, I hate the family get-togethers, hate the travelling and really hate the cold and flu season. Overall, it's great.

I mostly like Christmas. My nieces and nephew tend to get very loud on Christmas day, though, and that can cause multiple shutdowns, and I don't like that part.

Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. Everyone seems to be focusing on that and not on me. :lol:

I was never a fan of Christmas.

My mothers idea of Christmas was covering the house with tacky multi-coloured cheap decorations - I hated this, I always wanted the nice matching classy decorations - fortunately my family figured from a very early age that I wasn't a part of their family so any family gatherings were fairly easy for me to cope with. Going into my teens my mother started hanging out with my neighbours kids more - she always did this, she always preferred other kids to me - so I usually spent Christmas alone.

I am not a fan of giving/receiving gifts due to awkwardness...okay, I like giving and receiving gifts but only if I'm not around when it comes to opening! I'm not Christian so it's really awkward when people expect you to say "happy Christmas" and give Christmas cards...also socially it gets a bit more awkward because people in shops are constantly asking you if you're ready for Christmas, etc.

As an adult I'd like a REAL Christmas - like on TV, with decorations, family, loads of nice food, etc. - I'll not only never get this due to lack of money and family, but because everything in my life feels like I'm just going through the motions rather than experiencing it for real. *shrugs*

I have German relatives...so Christmas has ALWAYS been a big deal.. and also a part of my life.
I know that a lot of people with Autism have difficulty with sensory problems associated with Christmas like the hussle and bussle of things... and I don't like that stuff either... nor the commercialism crap. It is also new and change of routine and environment each year.

But on the other hand... what if the Christmas season is a routine in ITSELF. That's how I look at it... that the Christmas season is not a change of my routine...it IS a routine...part of a yearly routine. Something that I've grown up on and am very fond of. It's very peaceful to me especially since we celebrate it how it should be...with lots of nice soft sparkly decorations, Christmas tree, quiet house, fire, hot cocoa, reading of the Scriptures, advent wreath, Nativity set, candlelight services... the Nutcracker... actually it makes me upset when the Christmas routine is disturbed haha.

I guess it also helps that my obsessive interest is The Nutcracker and that comes on around Christmastime.

But I understand how you feel about the chaos of Christmas... I hate what it has become. Instead of just a peaceful holiday celebrating the birth of our Lord and a nice Christmas tree around a cozy fire... it's all this greed I want this I want that, crazy parties ,getting drunk, huge family dinners, technology or shopping craze, Santa, presents presents presents...ick!

I wish the stores would quit playing that awful sounding christmas music....I mean I don't like christmas music in general especially in the style of modern day pop....eww. If they would just leave it on the classical christmas music or find some rock versions or something maybe it wouldn't be quite so bad.

I have only one family person I want to see: my aspie son. I bought him a nice present. Christmas is about family and since I am not interested in seeing any of the rest of my family I will ignore Christmas this year.

I hate christmas.

* It's near New Year, which means another year has passed and i'm still alive
* I'm not religious
* Town is really busy and loud
* Don't like christmas music or films
* Finding presents for people is difficult and expensive, so I can't buy people things they would really want
* Giving gifts is awkward
* Recieving gifts is awkward and I don't like having money spent on me
* You are expected to be happy and cheerful
* Have to eat different food

Though this year is my puppy's first christmas, so it'll be interesting to see what she makes of it. :)

I do my level best to avoid Christmas. I'd be much happier reading a book at home than visiting family on Christmas day. Unfortunately I don't get away with doing that very often.

The tradition of giving/receiving presents annoys me. I have nothing against giving presents and if I see something I know someone will like, I'll get it and give it to them if it is Christmas or not. What I hate is the expectation that you have to give presents to people even when you have no idea what they want so you end up giving 'default' presents that have no real meaning. In turn I hate receiving 'default' presents.

It doesn't help that I find family get-togethers exhausting. It usually takes me a week to recover from them.

When I was younger I used to love christmas all the way up to about 17 or 18 but now at 21 i just don't care for it that much, I am not very fond of my extended family and don't really enjoy the overcrowded atmosphere and drunken retardedness that occurs around the table at my grandparents, even though I didn't want to celebrate it last year I just went anyway I doubt I will this year but I just want to know what other Aspies think and do you celebrate it or not?

I just find it so stressful. It's all about the commercialism and not about what the true spirit is meant to be. I am open-minded to a creator, but I believe Christianity is man-made and any God-given instructions have been greatly misinterpreted. Apparently, if Jesus really existed he was not born at Christmas anyway. My point being (don't want to get into a religious discussion here BTW) that the occasion is meant to be a celebration of his birth, and it very rarely is among the people who celebrate it. As a child, you love getting the presents, but as an adult it's just a headache. I'm dreading even putting the decorations up.

To sum it up, it is not logical because it has no meaning.
