Developing or changing stims as you get older?
If anyone had asked me a year ago if I had any behaviour that fitted the definition of stimming, I would have told them no, nothing that was obvious to me. However a couple of months ago, before I even became aware of stimming or the fact that I am quite likely on the spectrum, I developed some unusual repetitive movements. They vary slightly, from sort of flapping my feet when I'm lying down, to rapidly tensing and releasing muscles in my legs so a sort of vibration effect is created.
So I'm wondering, has anyone else suddenly developed stimming behaviours when they hadn't done it previously? Or has your stimming ever changed from one thing to something completely different?

Been stimming since I was a kid. Drove folks crazy. I learned to stop (or lessen it) during my 20's/30's, but since then I'm back. Not only does it relax me but I sometimes have no idea I'm doing it.

my stims come and go. but from what i had as a child my voice stims usually 1 word, or a group of words, example "meow/woof/quack" were 3 i would say in a row. now i just end up saying "meow." only my friends meow back at me, and i end up meowing back. instead of being embarrassed by my stim, we can actually meow at each other n i feel really good about myself and we usually have a good laugh.
My other stims regarding random words are Peppermint Toastie, and right now Poptart!!
i have physical stims too which annoy the fock outta people n thinking abou them makes me do them more so i wont go into detail. But yeah i believe that stims do change as we grow up/older
