If a treatment of autismus wouldn´t change anyone, then there is no difference between Asperger and NTs anyway. So if there is no difference between them, what for would you like to treat one of them, if we already are the same as NTs?

Its absolutely ok, when people say they want to be cured of their autism, so its everyones owns decision. But delivering nonsense-like arguments like: "A treatment wouldnt change anything, So yes, people wouldnt have autism anymore, but there would be no change....." (Ok, so if its not changing anything, then its a placebo. ^^) is ridiculous.

I like myself the way I am.

I am very far from perfect, I have many flaws and weaknesses, but I have come to accept it. And I can live with it. And that's why I don't think I need treatment.

In fact, treatment could destroy my strengths and advantages, turning me into just another mediocre person. This is a risk I am not willing to take.

Some of you don't want be cure because you accepted your autism. But it depends on the person because autism affects everyone differently.

That goes without saying.

This is one of the things that NT people often fail to understand - the concept of the spectrum. When they hear "autism" they automatically imagine a drooling helpless child that rocks back and forth and is able to crack top-secret government codes (thanks a lot, Hollywood!).

And thus they automatically assume that we need treatment and such...

I think one problem is autism makes it so you do not see that you are defective, we are all defective because of this disorder. While I support giving adults a choice I am not so sure with kids, I think it isn't unreasonable to cure every child if possible.

No matter were on the spectrum you are, if you are on it then something is wrong with you. You might not be able to see this due to your defect, but that doesn't mean it isn't there. Remember this is just my opinion. I for one hope for a cure each day, if one is found that eradicates all autistic traits in people I would be so happy. I would give almost anything for this cure too. Almost nothing to to much to pay for it.

There's nothing wrong with me, in fact I see my autism as a gift from God.
