I am almost unable to respect rules, that doesn't make sense to me. Especially if
the rule (or law) does not come with a logical explaination.

An example of how I process rules:

Rule: You can't smoke in the street
Why: Because second-hand smoke is dangerous.

Flaw 1:
The smoke is diluted to a degree, so that it is virtually harmless
Flaw 2:
The exhaust from cars (especially diesel engines) is dangerous too (microscopic particles), and MUCH more concentrated.
Flaw 3:
Cars should be outlawed too then ....

Result:
The rule is NOT justified and therefor not valid.

Anybody think like that?

Don't use the word "sheeple". It's stupid.

Also, because they are biologically conditioned to.

Yes, I often pull illegal U-turns, etc., especially if there are no other cars around. My wife gets mad, so I challenge her to point out the actual, physical problem. She can't, because it's a dumb law meant for dumb people who are unable to watch where they are going. If you're smarter than the system, then you own it.

So I agree, many laws are just there as training wheels for inattentive or inconsiderate people. Ignore them if you're neither.

People follow the rules because they don't want to get into trouble. They don't want to face any consequences. They also don't want to get caught and get into trouble for it.

See, now, I think you're stepping out of bounds.

How can you tell if you're inattentive?

I'm pretty sure that by definition you can't.

And I'm not sure that you're on this wavelength; to me it sounds more like you ignore rules you find impractical.

So what are we then; in the dark?

For the record, Second-hand smoke is actually more dangerous than first-hand...

It's not just about the reasonability of the rule, or the consequences of not following it. It's about simple respect for the rule of law. Sometimes, we have to accept rules we don't like. Don't like it, move. Or at the very least, don't complain if you're not going to try and change it.

To the OP,

If the rule itself defies logic, and intends to create a negative situation, then yes, I have difficulty following it.

There is a town in the SE United States, where there is a city ordinance in that town requiring all residents to own a gun. This in some way is a method by which the town suggests is controls crime. What Criminal is going to break into a house where the person, by law is required to own a gun?

I find this law both unjust , and asinine. Ergo if I lived there, I would never obey that law.

I recall that in New York state, The penalty for jumping off a building is death, granted you live through it.

See, now, here's a philosophical quandary:

What makes the rule of law special, and why should we follow it?

I usually start with, ""Who made this rule and why?" And typically the answer is, "Over-privileged bureaucrats trying to stop dumb people from doing dumb things." Since I have no respect for the former and am rarely the latter, the law rarely applies to me. I only do good, though, and do not break laws that make sense or laws that don't make sense unless the situation calls for it. Mostly, laws are from the white man and wealthy people who need to control us. The same people who grow wheat to kill us and take our money are the ones who make laws. What of us? Can we make no law in defense?

Well ... Didn't expect this question to evolve like this...

BUT anyways.... it seem like we are divided into two groups:
Those who like to THINK for themselves, and those who prefer if others do it for them.

Maybe some (you know yourself if it's you) would be delighted if we revived
The Soviet Union .. then there would be plenty of stupid rules for everybody.

Sure, let's revive the Soviet Union, outside of the perenially and tradionally corrupt Russia, and let's see how it goes.

You seem to be determined to follow any rule or law - stupid or not - and thats okay. It's your descision,
and I respect that 100%

It's a little sad though.... And I understand now why you don't like the word "sheeple".
