It may be arbitrary but I see no reason not to play along, and I wish you all a happy new year, by which I mean I hope the next 365 days will be good ones. After that, well, I guess you can all jump off a bridge. :P

It is arbitrary indeed, but then so are most reasons for celebration. I don't attach any significance to the change in calendar date, but what mattered to me tonight was that I was surrounded by friends. FRIENDS! Neurotypical friends who pushed me just enough to be brave and go to the fireworks show, but understood my difficulties enough to hug me while I jammed my fingers in my ears and tell me how proud they were that I managed it without a meltdown and without valium. The result was that I'm proud of myself, overwhelmed by how lucky I am to have found these people, and feeling good about myself.

If it takes a digit change on the calendar to make a night like that happen, then so be it! Happy new year to all.

New years cards are a tradition in this country. I made this one for my close friends here in Prague, but I share it with all of you as well. The PF stands for "pour feliciter" - not used in any French-speaking countries apparently, just chosen at a time when the Czech upper-classes spoke French.

This cat looks so much like one of mine.
I am in New Year now for about 3.5 hours and my cats suffered a lot of the noise out in the street.
They were the whole time during fireworks very close to me with the eyes wide open, hyper-vigilant.
My male cat, who looks like the cat on this photo, started hissing hearing the fireworks.
But now it is back calm and they are fine.
Good wishes to all of you.

Yes, I felt bad leaving my cat here to go out with my friends for a few hours. The fireworks were just starting and he was hiding under the chair. When I got home it was just after midnight and there were so many explosions... I found him behind the bed nearly catatonic! I moved him and he just stayed where I put him, with shock in his eyes. I put on some music and sang to him and he slowly came back to reality... Now he is playing with his mouse. : ) And I should have been in bed hours ago! Too much caffeine to stay up until midnight, and now I can't sleep.

I was singing to my cats as well.
And had to hold them a lot, but I was at home with the fireworks, as I have no friends to go out with.
My cat, who looks very similar to yours, is a "he" too.
His name is Nemo.
He weights about 7 kilo.
But he has the white hair not close to the arms, but a little bit on the chest, and a bit longer white hair in the ears.
But the face is so similar and the arms.
Now he is asleep.
Best wishes for your cat as well.
