There are some songs that I hate so much, I get physically nauseated when I hear them.

I do the same thing on occasion--replay a song two or three times.

I used to play the same Holly Near song over and over again. For some reason, her duet with Mercedes Sosa on "They Dance Alone" gave me the goosebumps, and there were two other songs on the same live CD that I liked.

I do that too, the only thing that helped curb that was I would end up wreaking my cassette tapes rewinding and playing over and over, and some other people find that annoying too. However when no ones home though...

I've been listening to the same song on repeat for the last 40 minutes or so. I never gave this tendency much thought until I started visiting this forum and saw that others did it, too.

I slept for a couple of hours, woke up, and started the song up again. If I could find the "keep replaying" button on youtube I'd do it.

It's actually three bits of music - the title music for Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. The Elder Scrolls games are one of my retreats in cases of massive stress and overload, and the music is very calming and centering and familiar for me.

This gives me an extremely powerful emotional reaction, particularly the first five and last five songs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dU17K7l65b8

I tend to get obsessed with certain sections of music, artists, genres, and then traits in music. I can listen to a brand new song and figure out say three songs that are related in terms of say the synthesised sound used, the melody or the chord structure.

I love music, it's my main obsession, and specifically more complex time signatures, interesting harmonies and the why and how notes interact. I really don't care much for the words in a song and find that I can understand the language of music better than the actual language.

Synesthetically this is kind of amazing. Like multicolored ripples everywhere.

I can relate to this. I often listen to external music to avoid internal music, or other random and equally annoying things, from ping-ponging about my brain.

Eminemi told me about a Chrome app that adds a replay button to youtube videos. It has made me quite happy. :)

During a time when I'm into a song, or with some songs that I can keep going back to over time, I can put it on repeat and get a feeling of euphoria. It's as though I can feel and see waves and waves of light pouring out from my body. I mentioned this in another thread, because I wasn't sure if it was synesthesia. Opinions there differed, so I don't know. As long as it's the right song for me, it's the same experience, regardless of which song it is, so I tend now to think maybe it's just a strong reaction and not synesthesia. Besides, I think if it were synesthesia, I'd have the same reaction to a song, whether I was particularly into it at a given time or not. Also, when it does happen, I have to let it happen. I can shut it out, should I choose to do so.

Yeah, that doesn't sound like synesthesia. One aspect of it is reliable repetition. Every time I listen to the piece auntblabby posted, I see the ripples of color, and every time I listen to different music, I see what looks like colorful fireworks, or ribbons of colored light. It's the same every time for each piece of music. It's also involuntary.
