On the contrary, I am a good singer, and can pretty easily sight sing, but I do not have perfect pitch. Mind you, I guess that's all the more motivation to improve my relative pitch. And I have no trouble transposing either, which is a jolly good thing to, as I seem to have to transpose rather a lot!
I was reading an article the other day on perfect pitch, and it says that it is noticeably more common in:
a) people who have been blind/partially sighted from a young age
b) people who speak tonal languages (such as Chinese, not English...)
c) people that have formal musical training from a very young age.

at first when my musical instructors in school made a fuss over my ability, i didn't get what all the fuss is about, until it sank in that i was the only one who could tune the other instruments sans reference tone. i tried to teach it to other people but for some reason my teaching abilities were a big fail.

I like to sing, though. Not sure if I have perfect pitch, but I've been told that I have a nice singing voice.

this is interesting, I may have it as I recall the school choir director around grade 1 and 2 was always trying to recrute me to sing in the student choir becouse she thought I was great, I could never understand why becouse I thought my voice was horrible(personal opinion) and I underwent speech therapy shortly after, maybe she herd somehing I didn't.

I know if i'm trying to teach someone a song or remind them i'm better to hum it then to try to sing it becouse my speech is horrible and they usually get it within a few notes. Its been proven most songs can be identifyed with only hearing the first note or 2 so if you have good pitch people should get it really quickly.
