This is worth a try. I find noticing my stims very satisfying. It's like I have stepped out of the system and made an observation about myself. I find it enticing to know what I seem like through the eyes of others.

Here is a youtube vid on my stims. What are some of yours?

Mine are fairly standard: I have the hand flapping and wrist shaking when I'm anxious or excited, I tap on surfaces when I enjoy their texture, and I have calluses along the inside of both index fingers from when I chew them when I'm really mad or excited. I also rock when I'm very afraid; my speech and communications professor sees a lot of it on speech days!

Can't run the video because I have a slow connection (Damn dialup). But I'm glad to share mine with you:

* When I'm in a negative mood (sad, angry, nervous, irritable) I rock, shake my limbs, drum my fingers, chew my cuticles until they bleed.
* When I'm in a good mood or are very happy or excited, I'll bounce up and down in a weird little pogo dance (I don't do this one often).
* I also do a little flapping, during times of extreme emotion.
* When I'm bored I doodle and draw, or fiddle with "clicky" things -- stuff that make clicking sounds, such as retractable pens, beads or click my fingernails.
* More randomly, I'll wiggle my toes in my shoes, keep time with the ever-present music in my head by tappng my fingers on my thigh. I'll make animal and other random noises.
* I play with my hair a lot. It's long, so I keep it in a scrunchie, and I'm forever taking it down and putting it back up.

Good video.

I drum my fingers a lot when waiting, when impatient or whatever.

When getting ready to go out, or anticipating something, or feeling a bit euphoric, I use my teeth as a drumkit and make awesome techno beats and awesome symphonies in my head. This is quite often throughout the day.

My teeth are always tapping together in different ways to produce snares high hats and kicks

Sometimes I just use the well known beatbox style with my mouth and lips though.

If I wasnt Aspie I could probably make the best dance music in the world

Rocking, sucking my thumb, playing with/feeling my hair, and smelling my hair. I'm like a child, really.

I'm not really sure what counts as stims to be honest but here are some examples of some the things I do which I guess could be called stims:

- I wiggle my feet (or toes) back and forth or from side to side very often. It calms me down. Happens daily. I didn't even know I did it until someone pointed it out many years ago.
- I sometimes spin or rock back and forth when sitting in my chair by my computer (I also rock back and forth when playing the guitar).
- I often touch my lips.
- I fidget with things pretty much all the time.
- When I watch something scary or when I'm anxious I sort of pinch the palm of my left hand repeatedly.
- Sometimes I catch myself making noises with my tongue or lips when alone.

Those are a few examples. Good video by the way!

I'm a tactile stimmer, so I'm constantly touching things that have/look like they'd have an interesting texture.
